Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This police officer saved my life once and has appointed himself my full-time bodyguard. He's madly in love with me but I will never love him that way. Yet in many ways, he's one of my best friends.

Answer: Pete Marino

When I met Marino, he was a Detective Sergeant with the Richmond Police, where I was the Chief Medical Examiner. We worked many cases in Richmond and, when I moved on, he followed me.
2. This is my niece, who taught herself computers as a young child. She's worked for several law enforcement agencies, but really doesn't play well with others, and she eventually became super-rich for her search algorithms. Now she does what she wants, including flying helicopters.

Answer: Lucy Farinelli

Remarkably, Lucy has grown up during the last 20 years of my life, but I have only aged a couple years.
3. I had a friend once. Her sister, Henna, had been killed by a serial killer. She was a crime reporter for the local paper. Sadly, she was killed, too. What was her name?

Answer: Abby Turnbull

Abby Turnbull worked with the police to write an article that would draw out a local serial killer. It worked a little too well. Later, she was interviewing a suspect in another case and she came to a bad end.
4. This distinguished older woman was my secretary when I was in Richmond and thereafter. She dressed impeccably and always made sure I didn't skip meals. What was her name?

Answer: Rose

Rose was my loyal secretary for a long time.
5. For a time, I informally and very secretly saw a psychiatrist. I considered her a friend, but eventually I learned she betrayed me. What is her name?

Answer: Anna Zenner

Anna Zenner was my unofficial psychiatrist. I wanted completely confidentiality, so she never took notes. Alas, like everyone else, she betrayed me.
6. I have hardly mentioned this man, who really had very little impact on my life, but I used to wear one of his old sweatshirts while gardening. He's my ex-husband. What's his name?

Answer: Tony

Tony was my first husband. I ended up with some money after the divorce, too, which was how I lived better than a typical medical examiner in Richmond.
7. In my days in Richmond, this doctor was one of my most dependable workers. He liked to work out and had big bulging muscles. Who was he?

Answer: Dr. Fielding

Dr. Fielding was my right-hand man, but after I left he fell apart somewhat.
8. I can't stand my sister. She's selfish, jealous, and a bad mother. I talk to her as little as possible. What is her name?

Answer: Dorothy

Dorothy is a successful children's author so it seems ironic she is such a poor mother to my niece.
9. This man was my former lover, from when I was in law school. We were a passionate couple and I ended up marrying someone else. We reconciled briefly years later, but then he was killed in a bombing at Heathrow Airport. Who was this man?

Answer: Mark James

Mark James was the love of my life, I thought, until he died and I fell in love with his best friend.
10. This man was married when I met him, but we couldn't help ourselves. He's a brilliant profiler. He was dead for a while, but it turned out he was only in hiding. Who is this man?

Answer: Benton Wesley

I met Benton Wesley when he profiled one of my Richmond cases. We worked together and fell in love despite his being married, though later we learned his wife was cheating on him, too. We have a very intense relationship.
11. I have a trusted ally on Capitol Hill. Who is it?

Answer: Senator Lord

The distinguished Senator Lord has always had my back. He and I are both from Florida, though he is considerably older than I am, especially since I don't seem to age.
12. I had a morgue assistant who sadly died of small pox after someone was unleashing it on innocent victims. What was my assistant's name?

Answer: Wingo

Poor Wingo. He died from a facial spray laced with small pox.
13. Marino was out touch with his son for a long time. He turned out to be a corrupt lawyer. What was his name?

Answer: Rocco Caggiano

Rocco Caggiano was also called "Rocky." He came to a bad end.
14. This man was a very creepy international killer with a rare disease that makes hair grow all over his body. Who was this man?

Answer: Jean-Baptiste Chandonne

Jean-Baptiste Chandonne was really creepy, AND he had a twin brother without the disease who worked for Interpol. I, ahem, had a brief affair with that brother, who turned out to be as bad as Jean-Baptiste.
15. I've seen more than my share of really bad guys. Which one of these was NOT one of the killers I've helped track?

Answer: Charles Scorsini

I have seen depravity, no doubt. Jean-Baptiste was an international killer with a rare medical condition that led to his nickname "The Wolf." Temple Gault was a brilliant and malicious to victims of all ages and types. And Steven Spurrier had a thing for young couples.
