Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is Mrs Hadley's first name?

Answer: Jasmine

She is Sephy and Minnie's mother.
2. What drink does Meggie offer Sarah at the beginning of the book?

Answer: ginger beer

Sarah declines the drink, as she has a lot of work to do, and she is scared that she might be caught not doing her job.
3. Sephy tilts her head to the left the first time she kisses Callum.

Answer: True

Callum tells her to tilt her head this way, but he is still a bit unsure!
4. What does the name 'Persephone' mean?

Answer: serene night

'Callum will tell you I'm anything but serene!' This is from when Sephy is talking to Shania, and she asks her what her name is. Shania does not know, so Sephy replies with this.
5. What is Mrs Hadley's middle name?

Answer: Adeyebe

Quite a strange name! It's only mentioned once or twice throughout the book, but I hope you remembered it!
6. Sephy's baby was born on the 15th May at midnight.

Answer: False

She was born on the 14th May at midnight. This information can be found on the very last page, where there is a birth announcement. The baby is named Callie Rose, and it states that she will be taking her father's surname.
7. In the last two chapters, how many times does Sephy say 'I love you Callum' before he dies?

Answer: 6

She says it four times while he standing on the platform. He then replies, she says it again, BUT she says it once more after he has died. She therefore says 'I love you Callum' six times in the last two chapters of the book. This part of the book is so sad!
8. Who did Sephy spend the Crossmas holidays with?

Answer: Jaquelina

'Crossmas' holidays are the book's version of Christmas holidays. As the book is about Crosses dominating over Noughts, I think this is a very clever way to reinforce that fact. Sephy meets Robyn and Jacquelina at Chivers, the boarding school she attends half-way through the book.
9. Who did Sephy spend the Easter holidays with?

Answer: Robyn

Again, people she met at Chivers boarding school.
10. What star constellation does Callum tell Sephy to look for?

Answer: Orion's Belt

He tells her this when she escapes into the woods. She hopes no one will see her, but Callum does find her. Instead of turning her over to Jude and the other Liberation Militia members, he helps her escape by telling her how to leave the woods and find the path.
