'Odd Thomas' is a thriller novel. The title of the book is the name of the main character - a 20 year old short-order cook named Odd Thomas.

'Forever Odd' was published in 2005 and 'Brother Odd' was published in 2006 in the UK. Koontz wrote these two sequels due to the extremely high rating from critics towards his first book. There are another two books after these. 'Brother Odd' begins seven months after the previous book; in it, Thomas befriends a dog which sticks with him throughout further adventures.

It is at the end of this book that one ghost leaves as another replaces it.
