Roberta was a housewife from New Jersey, whose husband Gary was a hot tub salesman. Roberta was fascinated by Susan, and read the personal messages she exchanged with her boyfriend in the paper. Originally, the movie was supposed to be a star vehicle for Rosanna. Rosanna is a member of the acting Arquette family and has also appeared in "Silverado".
