Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which movie did C-3PO have a garish red arm instead of his usual gold one?

Answer: Episode VII: The Force Awakens

The origin of C-3PO's red arm was explained in the comic "Star Wars Special:
C-3PO", set between "Return of the Jedi" and "The Force Awakens". He was on a mission with some other droids and lost his arm. He scavenged a replacement arm from one of his companions.

The single red arm really stood out in "The Force Awakens". It was swapped out for a golden one by the end of the movie.
2. In which movie did C-3PO suffer the indignity of not having any coverings at all, exposing his parts?

Answer: Episode I: The Phantom Menace

C-3PO was built by Anakin Skywalker to help his mother. In "The Phantom Menace", he was still a work in progress. When R2-D2 met C-3PO, the little droid called him "naked" because "his parts were showing".
3. In which movie was C-3PO given away as a gift?

Answer: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

At the beginning of "Return of the Jedi", C-3PO and R2-D2 went to Jabba the Hutt's palace to deliver a message from Luke Skywalker. Luke wanted to negotiate with Jabba for Han Solo, and as a goodwill gesture, he gave Jabba the two droids as a gift. Jabba was disinclined to listen to Luke and the two got into aggressive negotiations.

The droids and Han all ended up back with Luke in the end.
4. In which movie was C-3PO sold as merchandise?

Answer: Episode IV: A New Hope

In the very first movie, C-3PO and R2-D2 escaped the Imperial attack by taking an escape pod down to Tatooine. They were soon picked up by Jawas, who searched the desert for anything to sell. The Jawas ended up selling the droids to the Lars family, where they met Luke Skywalker.

In 2002, with "Attack of the Clones", it was revealed that C-3PO had actually worked for Owen and Beru 20 years earlier.
5. In which movie did C-3PO have red eyes when translating the Sith language?

Answer: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker

Rey, Poe, and Finn needed to get their hands on a Sith Wayfinder, and they had instructions on how to find one inscribed on a dagger. The only problem was that they were written in the ancient language of the Sith. There was a galactic law prohibiting translation of Sith material, so even though C-3PO could read and understand what was written, he had a programming block preventing him from sharing this information.

The heroes took C-3PO to a hacker who could bypass the block, but at the cost of C-3PO's memory. When he woke up, his eyes went red as he spoke the translation from the dagger.

Luckily, R2-D2 was able to restore C-3PO's memory from a backup once they got back to the Resistance base.
6. In which movie was C-3PO's head placed on the body of a battle droid?

Answer: Episode II: Attack of the Clones

Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amidala, R2-D2, and C-3PO attempted to infiltrate Geonosis through the battle droid production factory. C-3PO accidentally got his head knocked off. A battle droid head was placed on his body, and his head was placed of a battle droid body.

Being a battle droid briefly, C-3PO was horrified by the fighting and the bloodlust he felt. After the fight in the arena, R2-D2 reassembled the proper C-3PO.
7. In which movie was C-3PO blasted into pieces?

Answer: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewie, and C-3PO went to Lando Calrissian on Cloud City to hide from the Empire. They did not know that they had been tracked, and that Darth Vader was waiting for them. C-3PO accidentally ran into some Stormtroopers, but was blasted to pieces before he could alert anyone.

Chewie started to put the droid back together, but had difficulty. C-3PO spent most of the last act of the movie strapped to Chewie's back. It wasn't until he was reunited with R2-D2 that he was reassembled properly.
8. In which movie was C-3PO reluctant to participate in a mutiny?

Answer: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

Poe Dameron did not agree with Admiral Holdo's plan to run from the First Order, and staged a mutiny on the Raddus. C-3PO was caught on the bridge and tried to leave, but had to back off when soldiers started cutting through the sealed bridge door. The mutiny was stopped when Leia woke up and stunned Poe.

It was a good thing, too, because Finn and Rose failed their side of the mission, so the plan to jump to hyperspace without being tracked would not have worked.
9. In which movie was C-3PO a butler on Coruscant?

Answer: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

C-3PO worked for Padmé Amidala on Coruscant during the final days of the Republic. He did not have a whole lot to do in "Revenge of the Sith", even uttering the line, "I feel so helpless." He witnessed most meetings at her apartment, and then traveled with her to Mustafar where he performed his only consequential action: moving Padmé back onto her ship after she fell unconscious.

At the end of the movie, Bail Organa ordered that C-3PO be given a memory wipe. This was needed to preserve C-3PO's ignorance in the Original Trilogy (especially around the Lars homestead, though why Owen and Beru didn't remember him is a bit suspicious). R2-D2 was not given a memory wipe, though, so Organa's motivations were not clear.
10. In which movie was C-3PO believed to be a god?

Answer: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

On the forest moon of Endor, the Rebel team ran into the local Ewoks. The humans were captured to be eaten in a feast. The golden C-3PO, on the other hand, was seen as a god and treated much better. Before the feast was able to start, Luke used the Force to levitate C-3PO, feigning anger, to release his humans.
