Hackman won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, Eastwood won the Best Director Oscar, and the movie won the Best Picture Oscar.
Lieutenant Morris Schaffer was from "Where Eagles Dare". Schaffer was an American commando attached at the last minute to a British mission led by Major John Smith (Richard Burton). During the raid things went bad because there was a double agent on the team.
