Ernest Saves Christmas Trivia Quiz

As a jet pulls up to the airport gate, "Orlando, Florida, December 23" appears on the screen. I suppose it made sense to set the movie in Orlando since it was produced by Touchstone Pictures, which was operated by The Disney Corporation, and was filmed in and around the city and at the Disney-MGM Studios.

Answer: Up North

He says this when asked by the other man. This of course is an early clue that this older man with the white beard is really Santa Claus. This becomes apparent when he retrieves his luggage from the carousel. It is a big red sack, tied with a golden rope.

When it makes this tinkling sound, it causes the other man to seem a bit perplexed for a moment. When this other man tells him that he wants snow for Christmas, Santa says "I could have sworn you wanted a CD player".

Answer: Driving a taxi

Ernest is on the freeway driving a man to the airport. When the man tells him to step on it, he does, swerving around other cars so violently that his passenger is tossed out! At one point, if you look closely out of the back window of the Taxi, you'll see the brown highway signs leading to Disney World.

Answer: Yes

Even Ernest is of course skeptical of this claim. In a very amusing moment, Ernest offers him what appear to be 3-D glasses, as the man tells him he's not used to being out in the daytime. Ernest soon sees a Christmas tree fall from a truckload of them.

He freaks out and backs into traffic to save the poor little guy, causing many accidents. After rescuing it, he slams it through the back taxi windows, breaking both!

Answer: Flying Reindeer

The reindeer fly out of the crates and walk on the ceiling! The guys call Animal Control, who are just as shocked, telling them to call air traffic control! In an earlier scene, the guys are arguing about the name on the ticket instructing whom to hold the cargo for. One claims that it says Helper Elms, the other claims that it says Helper Elves.

They go back and forth with one saying "m", the other saying "v". Guess who is correct?

Answer: He opens Santa's Magic Sack.

Santa has accidently left his Magic Sack in Ernest's taxi. Ernest has been fired, and has taken the sack with him. He's now at Vern's house destroying...I mean fixing the wiring. When he goes to his truck for bolt cutters, and out of curiosity opens the sack, a glowing light shines out prompting him to say "He's Him!" He then proceeds to pull presents out!

Answer: The Christmas Magic is wearing off.

Santa explains that with the passage of time the magic grows dimmer. And since he's waited more years to quit than he should have, because he dearly loved it, there has to be a new Santa this year, or Christmas is gone forever! He's chosen Joe because of his great love and understanding of children. Joe had been doing a children's show for years, displaying this wonderful trait.

This no doubt caught Santa's attention.

Answer: Diamond World Pictures

Joe is at this studio, having been cast in a terrible sounding film called "Christmas Slay", about an alien who terrorizes some kids at Christmas camp. After Ernest sneaks Santa into the studio, Santa finds Joe filming a scene for the movie. Santa is so outraged at this horrible film, that he punches the director in the nose! After many previous failed attempts to talk to Joe, Santa finally succeeds, but after he leaves, Joe doesn't seem to be convinced.

Answer: Ernest is flying it.

Ernest attempts to deliver the sleigh and reindeer with help from two of Santa's elves, but he flattens the tires on the truck. So, he decides to fly it to the the museum. Naturally, he doesn't have a clue how to fly it. The elves must even prompt him on the proper way to call out the reindeer's names.

After takeoff, the sleigh is completely out of control! On the bright side, Joe sees the flying sleigh and finally believes that he is now Santa Claus.

Answer: It has "Air Brakes".

The sleigh is rapidly falling head-first toward the ground. It suddenly stops and Ernest looks at us and says "Air Brakes". Just prior to this, Joe arrived and, after a handshake with Santa, the magic is transferred to Joe, who is instantly turned into, as the old Santa says, "the real thing", complete with white beard, red suit, cap and boots! He's even made it snow, in Orlando! Ernest is chosen by new Santa to drive the sleigh for this year, and off they go! And that my friend, is how Ernest saves Christmas!
