Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. American actor Eddie Murphy portrayed "Dr. Dolittle" with a little different twist in the 1998 film. Which English actor was featured for the role in the original 1967 musical film?

Answer: Rex Harrison

Harrison depicted a man whose preference was his menagerie of animals to people. He learned to speak almost five hundred animal languages from his pet parrot named Polynesia, voiced by actress Ginny Tyler. Costing way over its budget, the film nearly caused 20th Century Fox to declare bankruptcy. Harrison performed the song "Talk to the Animals" in the film, which won an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

2. There was something about her! Who voiced the sometimes hideous character, Fiona, in the movie "Shrek" (2001)?

Answer: Cameron Diaz

Quite unaware of what was happening, Shrek and Donkey "won" the right to go on a quest for the pompous Lord Farquaad to find his bride, Princess Fiona, who was voiced by "There's Something About Mary" (1998) actress, Cameron Diaz. The problem was that the princess was locked in a tower and guarded by a ferocious dragon. Well, that wasn't the only problem, as Princess Fiona, also harbored a secret. Will she be able to keep it hidden? Who will be her true love?

3. Which of these actors made a comeback with the 2006 movie 'Rocky Balboa'?

Answer: Sylvester Stallone

Stallone's comeback in 'Rocky Balboa' came as a surprise to many, given Stallone's previous 'Rocky' franchise movie entries had, in the eyes of many, exhausted all possible plotlines and themes, and the fact that Stallone had apparently retired the character after 1990's 'Rocky V'.

4. Name the movie about a young girl reaching adulthood in Paris, late 1800s, in which Louis Jourdan plays opposite Leslie Caron. This movie is a musical.

Answer: Gigi

"Gigi" is a musical, and although the action happens in Paris and most actors and actresses are French, the movie was made in English. Maurice Chevalier sings and he plays the role of the young man's uncle.

6. Which Texan-born actor starred with Ellen Barkin, John Goodman, and Ned Beatty in the romantic thriller 'The Big Easy', in 1986?

Answer: Dennis Quaid

He has quite an impressive mixture of genres in his portfolio, ranging from the romantic 'The Big Easy', to horror, 'Jaws 3-D', to comedy,' Innerspace', and even a biopic, 'Great Balls of Fire' the story of the life of Jerry Lee Lewis.

Gary Busey, another Texan, has an equally stellar career list, with over 150 movies to his credit. Brad Pitt does not really need any introduction, but was not born in Texas- he is from Oklahoma. The very multi-talented Clint Eastwood is a Californian.

7. During the movie, "Forrest Gump," Forrest meets with President Richard Nixon to be honored because of his skills in a particular sport. Which sport was it?

Answer: Ping Pong

This was his third, and final, trip to the White House. It was in 1972, and at the time, Forrest had reservations to stay at the Hotel Ebbott. President Nixon would have nothing of that and preceded to get Forrest to a much nicer hotel, The Watergate. I could imagine him doing well in gymnastics but he never met a president for that sport. You would think he would do a marathon because in the movie he ran across America more than twice.

But still, even though he ran for over three years straight, he never met a president because of that activity.

He did meet John F. Kennedy at the White House due to making the All-American Football team, but the question specifically is about President Richard Nixon.

8. Which movie, including stars Rachel Weisz and Natalia Tena centers on a wayward single man forging an unlikely bond with a troubled young man?

Answer: About a Boy

The movie stars Hugh Grant as Will, a somewhat stereotypical single guy who stumbles upon Marcus (Nicholas Hoult) the boy struggling with typical trials of coming of age and a far from perfect home life. Toni Collette also stars in a key role as Will's single mother. I am not a Hugh Grant fan in particular but I thought this one was decent.
