Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Unlocks a door

Answer: Aberto

The spell was first shown in the original "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" film. It was never shown in any of the eight "Harry Potter" titled movies.

Queenie Goldstein tried to use this spell to gain entry to the office of Percival Graves. This was shown after a more traditional unlocking charm failed.
2. Breaks glass

Answer: Finestra

The spell was first shown in the original "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" film. Like the first question in this quiz, it was never in any of the eight "Harry Potter" branded films.

The spell was shown when Newt Scamander used it while chasing a Niffler.
3. Makes items float

Answer: Wingardium Leviosa

This was taught to the first year students by Prof. Flitwick in "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone".
Hermione mastered it quickly and tried to teach Ron. It was one of their earliest interactions and nearly caused a rift in what ended up being a long-term friendship and later marriage.
4. Causes someone's legs to stop

Answer: Locomotor Mortis

The spell is only shown in two movies, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone", and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince".

The first time it is used, Draco Malfoy uses it on Ron, the second time Harry uses it on Draco. In other movies in the franchise, Petrificus Totalus is used, it's a similar charm, but locks up the entire body, not just the legs.
5. Uncovers intruders and imposters

Answer: Revelio

Hermione uses this spell in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" to uncover the truth behind the book that Harry had been using in potions class. He had put a fake cover on it to hide that it was the "Prince's" book and not his own. The book eventually revealed itself to her, and she convinced him to hide it after he nearly killed Draco with a spell that was written in the book.
6. Creates an age line that can't be crossed.

Answer: Akis

Dumbledore uses this in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire".

He uses the spell to mark an age line in a circle around the Goblet. The line was to stop anyone under 17 from entering the tournament. Barty Crouch Jr. still entered Harry, despite him being underage. The line, however, wouldn't let anyone underage pass, as Fred and George Weasley both tried.
7. Launches an opponent in the air

Answer: Alerte Ascendare

The spell was talked about, but not used. Gilderoy Lockhart mentioned it during the dueling club scene of "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". The spell was specifically created for the film and never mentioned in the book.
8. Activates a vanishing cabinet

Answer: Harmonia Nectare Passus

Draco Malfoy was seen using this in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". He was trying to repair one of the vanishing cabinets that was hidden in the room of requirement. The other cabinet was in magic shop in Diagon Alley.
9. Freezes living creatures

Answer: Immobulus

Similar to Locomotor Mortis, but this works on any creature, not just a human. The spell was seen in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" in the scene with all of the Cornish Pixies, and was mentioned in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban".
10. Produces a ball of flame

Answer: Lacarnum Inflamarae

Hermione uses this in "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone". It was in the movie only as in the book version she created flame through another manner. She used this in the Quidditch scene when she and Ron thought Snape was cursing Harry as he played.
