1. Early in the movie Grindelwald's followers kill a Qilin that has just given birth and steal the baby. What is this baby's fate?

The baby Qilin is taken to Grindelwald who slits its throat and holds it while it dies. Qilins are able to see the future and, in killing it, Grindelwald acquires this ability, to a certain extent. He is later seen in a pool of water holding the lifeless form underwater, bringing it back to life through unspecified magic, but likely some form of necromancy. This acquired ability to see the future makes it more difficult for Dumbledore and friends to defeat him. They have to make sure that all of the details of the plan are not known by all of the group.

Answer: a Qilin

Qilins (pronounced Chillins) are very rare magical creatures that look a little like a deer. We later learn that they have the unique ability of determining if someone is pure of heart and will bow down to such a person if they encounter one. They also have the ability to see some of the future. When Newt arrives, the mother Qilin is pronounced to be ready by Newt, and soon gives birth to the baby, still in a sack. While Newt is tending to the baby, dark wizards from Grindelwald's crew arrive, deliver a killing curse to the mother and kidnap the infant. Newt comforts the dying mother to find that she has actually given birth to twins and he is able to save the second Qilin. Magizoologist, Newt Scamander, is played by Eddie Redmayne.

In "The Sorcerer's Stone", Harry, Hermione and Ron are leaving the Gryffindor common room to get to the dungeon, but Neville is trying to stop them. Hermione then casts a spell that causes Neville to freeze and become unconscious, allowing the three to escape from the common room and go to the dungeon.

They think that it works at first, but then the Goblet spits their names back out. When their hair turns gray, and they start growing long gray beards, they begin to wrestle one another, each blaming the failure of their scheme on the other. Everyone at Hogwarts is excited about the upcoming Triwizard tournament. Voldemort arranges to have the cup turned into a portkey, so that Harry is brought to him when he touches it. In the graveyard outside of Voldemort's father's home, Harry's blood is used in a ceremony to bring Voldemort back to his corporeal form. Unable to stop Voldemort's return, Harry does manage to escape, to give warning of the Dark Lord's return.

After comforting the mother as she dies, Newt picks up the second newborn and places it in his trusty, magical, brown suitcase. At one point Newt's assistant, Bunty Broadacre, takes the suitcase to a leather shop and asks to have duplicates made. The man asked to make the replicas is not allowed to open the original (for obvious reasons) and only given a short time to complete them. She asks for half a dozen, which is a little confusing as that plus the original would make seven but there were only six in total. Five were presented to the group who each took one to look after, more or less randomly. Jacob went to lift one and Dumbledore gently shook his head. Jacob hesitated over a second one, only lifting it when Dumbledore nodded. This was a bit of a red herring. Jacob's case ended up containing baked goods which exploded out of the case and multiplied when opened by one of Grindelwald's group.

In "The Chamber of Secrets", Harry, Ron, and Professor Lockhart go to the Chamber of Secrets to rescue Ginny Weasley. Professor Lockhart casts a memory charm that backfires, so Ron and Harry have to go at it alone. Harry goes into the deep of the Chamber to find Ginny lying unconscious. He then faces a young Tom Riddle, who reveals himself as Voldemort. Harry then destroys the monster in the chamber along with Tom Riddle's diary, casting out the young Tom Riddle, and rescuing Ginny. Dumbledore informs Ron and Harry that doing all of their heroic acts has required both Ron and Harry to break the school's rules.

The heir of Slytherin has once again opened the Chamber of Secrets and unleashed the monster kept within. Harry and Ron must find the Chamber, and rescue Ron's sister, who has been taken there to die. In defeating the monster and destroying the diary, Harry once again thwarts Voldemort's plan to regain his human form.
