Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Alas, the only object you could photograph was on the main floor of the museum. In which movie did the bewitched Ford Anglia play a large role?

Answer: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Harry had a lot of trouble getting to Hogwarts in his second year. The Dursleys had locked Harry in his room so George, Fred and Ron Weasley helped Harry escape from Privet Drive using the car. Ron and Harry took the car to get to Hogwarts when Dobby, the house elf, blocked the entrance at the train station.

The car later saved Harry and Ron from Aragog's children in the Forbidden Forest.
2. Upon entering the exhibit, some visitors tried on the Sorting Hat. Who placed the Sorting Hat on Harry in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"?

Answer: Professor McGonagall

Harry entered Hogwarts at the age of 11. Professor Minerva McGonagall, the Transfiguration teacher, sorted the first years. She was the Head of Gryffindor House and spotted Harry's talent as a Seeker for the House Quidditch team.
3. The exhibit had a replica of Fawkes, Dumbledore's phoenix. In "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", what did Fawkes bring to Harry, when he was facing Riddle/Voldemort?

Answer: Sorting Hat

Fawkes brought Harry the Sorting Hat. It was Harry's need and loyalty to Dumbledore which brought Fawkes to Harry's rescue. Sinces Harry was a true Gryffindor, Godric Gryffindor's sword fell out of the hat, giving Harry a weapon to defeat the basilisk.
4. The entire office of Dolores Umbridge, the sadistic Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, was another part of the exhibit. What animals were depicted on the collector plates on her walls?

Answer: Cats

In "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", one of the cats left the picture to let Umbridge know that Harry, Ron and Hermione were trying to use the fireplace in her office.
5. There were only a couple of interactive displays. We unpotted a certain plant that was essential in healing those struck by the basilisk in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets." What was this helpful plant?

Answer: Mandrake

The mandrake's cry was so painful that the students needed to wear earmuffs to keep from fainting. Harry used Gillyweed to aid him in one of his tasks in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and Devil's Snare was one of the protections used in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone".
6. Ron's dress robes from "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" were part of the exhibit and looked just as silly as they did in the movie. What was Ginny Weasley's comment when Ron received them in the mail from their mother?

Answer: "Ghastly!"

While all these descriptions fit, Ginny told Ron that she wouldn't wear them and that they were ghastly. In the book, the dress robes were maroon rather than green - Mrs. Weasley got them second-hand. Hermione's lovely dress from the Yule Ball, as well as many other costumes, were also on display.
7. There was a small section of the Forbidden Forest with a few of the creatures that resided there. Which of the following was NOT seen in the forest in the movies?

Answer: Grindylow

Grindylows lived in the lake on the grounds and were an obstacle in the second task in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". Just the head of the Hungarian Horntail dragon, which Harry drew as his first task in "Goblet of Fire", was on display. A centaur and Aragog, Hagrid's spider friend, were part of the tableau.
8. I sat on a chair in Hagrid's hut and saw how big he would be if I was standing in a room with him. This wasn't part of the exhibit, but what was the name of Hagrid's half brother?

Answer: Grawp

Hagrid's father was human and his mother was a giant. Grawp had a crush on Hermione and gave her bicycle handlebars as a present in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". If you looked closely, there were many continuity goofs in this scene. Grawp gave Hermione the handlebars and in the next scene, he had them.
9. There were many statues in the exhibit. Whose grave was Harry trapped on top of, in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"?

Answer: Tom Riddle Sr.

Harry was held in place by a statue of the Grim Reaper on Voldemort's father's grave. In order to bring Voldemort back to life, Wormtail added a bone from Voldemort's father, blood from Harry, and Wormtail parted with some of his flesh.
10. One of the last places we visited was the room where they held the feasts. What was this area of the school called?

Answer: The Great Hall

While the food was all plastic, it looked just as good as it did in the movies. On the walls, before you entered, were some of the rules and regulations that Umbridge initiated in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix".
