Loki's presence was felt by Earth when he opened a portal above New York to a Centaurian invasion in "The Avengers" (2012). In "Thor: The Dark World" (2013), Loki faked his own death, and was shown at the end of the movie to be impersonating Thor's father as the king of Asgard.

Thanos did not have much of a presence in the first two phases of the MCU. In "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014), it was revealed that Thanos had a daughter named Gamora working against him. In the end credit scene of "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015), Thanos was seen putting on his Infinity Gauntlet and saying, "I will do it myself".
