Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who said, "Mr. Weston, I know this role backwards."?

Answer: Ann Darrow

Ann was an actress based in New York City and the theater which showcased plays she starred in had closed down. She spoke to someone named Mr. Weston, who worked in theater, that she wanted to star in a role based on a play by playwright Jack Driscoll. She claimed to know the role backwards but Mr. Weston gave her the sad news that the part had been cast.
2. Fill in the blank with this quote from Carl Denham: "You said we were shooting in ____, right?"

Answer: Singapore

Carl and his assistant, Preston, spoke in a taxi cab about a movie which Carl wanted to film and Carl mentioned an actress named Maureen. Preston stated how Maureen had pulled out of the project the day before. Carl asked him if he told her they would be filming the picture in Singapore.
3. Who told Carl, "Look, you got my notes."?

Answer: Jack Driscoll

Carl chartered a boat to go overseas in order to shoot his film and he spoke with Jack Driscoll, as the movie would be an adaptation of his play. After Jack handed Carl a script, Jack lamented on its being too short. Jack told him to look at his notes for help.
4. Who stated, "Well, that's my job."?

Answer: Mike

Ann was looking for breakfast on the boat and Carl decided to introduce her to the film crew. When he introduced her to Mike, Ann told him she knew who Mike was but wrongfully believed Mike was Jack Driscoll. She complimented a puzzled Mike as to how great he was at capturing the common voice of the people. Mike simply replied by stating that was his job.
5. Fill in the blank with this Carl Denham quote: "They call it ____ Island."

Answer: Skull

Jack and Carl spoke privately where Jack was staying on the ship so Carl told him the news they would be filming on an island now. Carl mentioned the island's name as being Skull Island. Jack used his typewriter to title his new play, "Skull Island".
6. Who told Jack, "I beefed up the banter."?

Answer: Bruce Baxter

Carl was shooting a scene on board the boat with Ann and Bruce so Bruce mentioned afterward how he seemed to give the dialogue some flow. Jack said it was mere effluence. Bruce retorted by claiming he simply beefed up the banter and advised Jack not to be so grumpy.
7. Who said, "There's no land southwest for thousands of miles."?

Answer: Captain Englehorn

On the ship, Carl and Captain Englehorn looked over a map so Carl said he wanted to go southwest. Captain Englehorn informed him there was no land southwest for many miles. However, Carl persuaded Captain Englehorn to proceed in that direction.
8. Who asked, "Why does Marlow keep going up the river?"

Answer: Jimmy

Jimmy was seen reading Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" when he asked a nearby Hayes why Marlow kept going up the river, in reference to the main character in Conrad's classic read. Hayes answered his question by giving him some background information regarding Marlow. Shortly after this, the boat reached Skull Island.
9. Who advised Jimmy, "When I tell you to run, run."?

Answer: Hayes

On Skull Island, the boat crew searched for Ann Darrow and Jimmy was near Hayes. Hayes once told him that he would run if he told him to run. Jimmy said he did not want to run because that would make him look cowardly but Hayes responded by telling him it had nothing to do with bravery.
10. Who joked, "There's only one creature capable of making a footprint that size. The Abominable Snowman."?

Answer: Lumpy

The boat crew embarked on a mission at Skull Island to retrieve Ann after she had been taken by an unknown creature. They came across a gigantic footprint to which Lumpy made a quip. He said it had to have been The Abominable Snowman who left it there.
