Ryu is told that his sister requires a donor with type B blood, which he does not have. Although later on in the film Ryu loses his money, and cannot afford the operation after a suitable donor has been found, this is not the reason why he himself cannot donate.

Yeong-Mi's story continues to say that the man suffered from chronic headaches, and so in an attempt to alleviate them, he shot one of the heads. Ryu just seems confused by the story, and asks Yeong-Mi if the man shot the right head or the left one.

Despite the bizarre story, this is actually quite a sweet scene showing the relationship between the couple. They have a mirror set up at the foot of the bed, so that they can sit next to each other and still be able to see each other's sign language.

Answer: He is mugged, losing the money for his sister's operation.

In desperation, after being unable to donate his own kidney, Ryu contacts the black market organ dealers and agrees to exchange a sum of money plus one of his own kidneys in return for a kidney which matches his sister's blood type. When he wakes up from the operation however, he discovers that they have conned him, taking his kidney, his money, and his clothes, and leaving him with nothing.

Ryu is also one of a number of employees who lose their jobs, meaning he now has no way of earning the money back which has been taken from him. It is when he is in this dire situation that the hospital finally informs him that a suitable donor has been found, only now he has no money to pay for the operation.

Answer: She attacks him.

Yeong-Mi is furious to discover that Ryu has been conned, and begins to chase him round the bedroom, punching and kicking him, while yelling about how the money he had lost could have been used to save his sister. After she calms down, she begins to formulate the kidnapping plan.

Answer: The family will miss the child so much that they will all be much closer once she is returned to them.

Yeong-Mi explains to Ryu that there are "good kidnappings and bad kidnappings". She explains to him that most kidnappings are good - the ransom is paid and the child is returned safely, but these are never heard about. The bad kidnappings, those picked up by the media, or those which end tragically, make up a minority of cases.

She also states that they will only ask for the exact amount of money that they need, which she believes justifies their cause even further.

Answer: Cell phone

Mr Park has bought his daughter, Yoosun, a cell phone, which prompts her friend to ask her own father for one. Ryu's former boss then jokes to Mr Park that he needs to stop buying his daughter such extravagant gifts, as he is forcing the other parents to live up to his same levels of generosity.

This scene shows the vast difference in wealth and lifestyle between these rich businessmen, and Ryu and his family.

Answer: They believe Ryu will be too easily identified as a suspect.

Ryu realises that as a disgruntled former employee, he will probably be one of the first people the police approach if they hear of the kidnapping. Mr Park and his daughter, Yoosun, just happen to be with Ryu's former employer at the time Ryu and Yeong-Mi are watching, and they realise that he is also very wealthy, and has no connection to either of them, making him a more viable candidate.

Answer: Engineer Peng

Engineer Peng is another former employee who has recently been rendered jobless. He stops the car in a desperate attempt to appeal to his former employer, stating that he cannot afford to feed his family, and that he had been a hard worker who had not taken a single sick day in many years.

When his pleas fall on deaf ears, he lifts up his shirt and begins to cut himself. It is witnessing this incident which makes Ryu realise that he needs to change the target of the kidnapping.

Answer: She sings and dances.

Yeong-Mi is a member of a terrorist group which is dedicated to bringing change to South Korea. While playing with Yoosun in the park, she sings a song about revolution and change, while dancing and running around. Yoosun seems entertained by this, and even joins in towards the end.

Answer: Her mother is in hospital.

Ryu tells his sister that Yoosun's mother has been in a bad car accident, and is currently in hospital. He tells her that Yoosun is not aware of the situation, so begs his sister not to mention it. Yoosun herself does not realise that she has been kidnapped; she just believes that she is staying with a friend of her father for a few days.
