Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "I like these guys. They are funny guys. Just kill ____________."

Answer: one of them

El Guapo (Alfonso Arau) said this when he met the Amigos for the first time. The Amigos were circling El Guapo and his gang and shooting their pistols in the air. El Guapo found it most amusing.
2. Whom does Pablo, the young boy from Santo Poco, ask, "Can I have your watch when you are dead?"

Answer: Dusty Bottoms (Chevy Chase)

Pablo (Humberto Ortiz) asked this of Dusty while the Amigos were still under the impression that they were there for a performance. Dusty just stared in astonishment. He did give Pablo the watch at the end of the movie, however.
3. When the Amigos first arrived in Santo Poco, they went to the Cantina and asked for beer. The bartender (Fred Asparagus) told them, "Sorry, Senor, we don't have no beer - only ___________."

Answer: Tequila

"It's like beer."
4. Three of El Guapo's henchmen rode into Santo Poco shooting up the town and demanding alcohol. The Amigos thought this was their matinee performance, and they rode out and confronted the henchmen. Which of the following slurs did Lucky NOT call them?

Answer: Sand-dwelling lizards

"Son of a motherless goat!?"
5. "Tell us we will die like __________."

Answer: Dogs

"NO, WE WILL NOT DIE LIKE DOGS. WE WILL FIGHT LIKE LIONS, BECAUSE WE ARE *THE THREE AMIGOS*. ARRIBA, ARRIBA." This was the scene that prompted El Guapo to say the first quote of this quiz, "I like these guys. They are funny guys. Just kill one of them." Jefe shot Lucky Day in the arm, and then the Amigos realized it wasn't just acting.
6. During El Guapo's birthday party, Jefe handed El Guapo a present that he said was from everybody. El Guapo held up the gift for all to see, and exclaimed, "It's a ___________." What was this gift?

Answer: Sweater

And a lovely tan sweater it was.
7. "My little buttercup has the sweetest ______________. Dear little buttercup, wont you stay _______________." Fill in the two blanks.

Answer: smile - a while

"You and I will settle down in a cottage made for two. Oh, DEAR little buttercup, SWEET little buttercup, my little buttercup, I love you." Lucky and Ned sang this little diddy in the Cantina while Dusty accompanied on the piano. The patrons were so frightened that they were inclined to sing along.
8. Studio owner and movie producer, Harry Flugelman (Joe Mantegna), told the Amigos that they would get "nada" from him. "In all those westerns you've made, did you ever hear the word, 'nada'? Do you know what 'nada' means?" Dusty thought "nada" was...

Answer: a light chicken gravy

Nada, of course, means 'nothing'. Ummm, chicken gravy.
9. After Dusty shot the Invisible Swordsman, Lucky told him, "You were supposed to shoot UP; we both shot UP. It's like living with _____________________."

Answer: a six-year old

The Invisible Swordsman was the only person who could show them the way to El Guapo's. They each were to say one magic phrase and then shoot their pistol in the air. Dusty shot directly to the side and knocked the Swordsman off his horse. I think the actors made up their own phrases to say, because if you listen to Lucky's ("Farley-Farley-Farley-Hfuhruhurr"), you might recognize the name of the character Steve Martin played in his 1983 classic, "The Man With Two Brains", Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr (pronounced Huff-harrrr, or something like that).
10. Before the final confrontation with El Guapo and his men at Santo Poco, who told the old woman, "Sew, very old one; sew like the wind."

Answer: Ned

"I'd choose Rodrigo." - Al Bundy
11. "El Guapo only kills men. He does not kill crying ___________."

Answer: women

All Three Amigos let out a huge sigh of relief after El Guapo said this.
12. Before Ned's duel, who said, "You'll want to die with a man's gun - not a little sissy gun like this"?

Answer: Jefe

Jefe (Tony Plana) said this to Ned just before he was going to duel the German (Kai Wulff). The German had worshipped Ned when he was a kid because Ned was so fast on the draw. The German thought that Ned only appeared to be that fast because of movie tricks; the German was wrong.
13. "Lip balm?" - Who asked this question?

Answer: Dusty

Dusty asked this after the other two watched him slug down his canteen and throw what was left onto the hot desert ground. Lucky got one drop out of his canteen, and Ned's canteen only yielded dust. They watched in horror as Dusty threw his canteen to the ground and water poured out. All Dusty could offer them was lip balm.
14. When the Amigos raided El Guapo's fortress, who said, "Hold it, El Guapo, or I'll pump you so full of lead, you'll be using your [thing] for a pencil!"

Answer: Lucky

El Guapo - "What do you mean?"
Lucky - "I don't know."
15. Also, during the raid on El Guapo's, who said, "Are Gringos falling from the sky?"

Answer: El Guapo

A split-second after El Guapo said this, Lucky lost his grip on the rope from which he was hanging and fell directly in front of El Guapo, to which Jefe responded, "Yes, El Guapo." Paco was the lookout guard on top of the fortress that El Guapo asked, "Jefe, what is his name?". Jefe told him, "That's Paco." El Guapo wanted to test the new gun, so he told Paco to hold up his hat, "No, higher", and then El Guapo shot him in the chest. I love that scene.
