Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I took Carrie White to the prom. Who am I?

Answer: William Katt

Katt, born on February 16th, 1951 in Los Angeles, California, was cast as Tommy Ross. Tommy was a popular kid in high school and he dated Sue Snell. However, she pushed him to ask Carrie White to the Prom but he really wanted to go with Sue. At the library, Tommy asked Carrie what she was reading and she said it was a book on sewing. Tommy asked Carrie if she would be his date to the Prom and she ran off. Carrie eventually accepted Tommy's invite and they went to Prom together.

At the Prom, Tommy and Carrie were crowned King and Queen and it was then that pig blood splattered all over Carrie, from a bucket.

The bucket crashed on Tommy's head and he was knocked out. He died from smoke inhalation since Carrie lit the entire gymnasium (where the Prom took place) on fire, via her telekinetic powers. Katt starred in the films "Big Game", "Beautiful Loser", and "Jawbreaker".
2. I got my period in the shower in the girl's locker room at school. Who am I?

Answer: Sissy Spacek

Spacek, a native of Quitman, Texas, landed the role of Carrie White. Carrie was an outcast in high school and she got her first period while she showered in the girl's locker room. She ran over and asked some girls for help and they laughed. The girls threw tampons at Carrie and told her to "plug it up." Carrie was excused from physical education for a week and, for that week, she researched telekinesis.

When Carrie got pig blood splattered on her at the Prom, she got revenge on her classmates. She locked the gym and caused a fire, which led to many deaths. Carrie managed to get out of the gym and go home.

It was at home that her mother attacked her but Carrie used her telekinetic powers to kill her mom in self-defense. Carrie's house then crumbled to the ground and she died. Spacek was seen in the movies "JFK", "Badlands", and "The River".

In 1977, Spacek received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the film "Carrie", but she lost to Faye Dunaway for "Network".

Other Oscar nominees for Best Actress in a Leading Role that year were Liv Ullmann for "Face to Face", Marie-Christine Barrault for "Cousin, cousine", and Talia Shire for "Rocky".
3. As Carrie's teacher, I joked about a poem she thought was beautiful. Who am I?

Answer: Sydney Lassick

Lassick, born in 1922 in Chicago, Illinois, portrayed the small role of Mr. Fromm. Mr. Fromm was Carrie's English teacher and only appeared in one scene. Carrie was in English class and Mr. Fromm discussed a poem with the students, while Carrie took notes.

When he asked people to comment on the poem, Carrie said it was beautiful. Mr. Fromm was surprised she spoke up since Carrie was rather taciturn. Mr. Fromm then joked about Carrie's opinion on the poem. Lassick had guest starring stints on the TV series "The X Files", "Dream On", and "Adam 12".
4. I lambasted the girls in my P.E. class for humiliating Carrie. Who am I?

Answer: Betty Buckley

Buckley played Miss Collins. Miss Collins was a P.E. teacher and comforted Carrie after the girls humiliated her for getting a period while she showered. Miss Collins suggested to the principal that the girls be punished with three days' suspension and to have their Prom tickets revoked.

However, the principal decided the girls were to have one week's detention and, if anyone did not go, the punishment was three days' suspension and no Prom tickets. During one detention session, Chris argued with Miss Collins and Miss Collins slapped her in the face. Chris walked away so she was suspended for three days, and could not go to the Prom.

In one scene, Miss Collins told Carrie she should have more self-esteem and took her to a mirror. She told Carrie she was pretty and that she could be even prettier with lipstick.

This lifted Carrie's spirits, albeit for a brief moment. When Carrie got splattered with pig blood at the Prom, Miss Collins was upset that this had happened. However, in Carrie's mind, she saw Miss Collins burst into laughter so she killed Miss Collins in her rage. Buckley guest starred on the TV shows "Without a Trace", "The Jury", and "L.A. Law".
5. While I drove in a car with Chris one night, I slapped her in the face. Who am I?

Answer: John Travolta

Travolta, born on February 18th, 1954 in Englewood, New Jersey, was cast as Billy Nolan. Billy was Chris' girlfriend and, in one scene, he drove his car and Chris was in the passenger's seat. While they drove, Martha and the Vandellas' hit song "Heat Wave" played on the radio. Chris leaned over and tried to kiss Billy but he told her to not do it and she would not listen. Finally, Billy slapped her and was adamant that she not pull that stunt. Chris and Billy started to make love and Chris told him she hated Carrie White and wanted to get revenge on her. Billy came up with a plan to kill a bunch of pigs and use their blood to splatter it on Carrie at the Prom.

After Carrie left the gym, she saw Billy try to run her down but she used her telekinetic powers to flip over the car. Billy and his friends in his car died in the wreck. Travolta had roles in the films "Look Who's Talking", "The General's Daughter", and "Broken Arrow." In 1978, Travolta received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the film "Saturday Night Fever", but he lost to Richard Dreyfuss for "The Goodbye Girl".

Other Oscar nominees for Best Actor in a Leading Role that year were Woody Allen for "Annie Hall", Richard Burton for "Equus", and Marcello Mastroianni for "A Special Day".
6. I was a religious zealot and called my daughter's breasts "dirty pillows". Who am I?

Answer: Piper Laurie

Laurie, a native of Detroit, Michigan, played Margaret White in "Carrie". Margaret was Carrie's mother and was abusive towards her, and she was a religious fanatic. In Margaret's first scene, she went to Mrs. Eleanor Snell's house to try and get her to purchase a Bible, but Mrs. Snell declined. Right before Carrie went to the Prom, Margaret told her they would all laugh at her and she could see her breasts or, as she called them, her "dirty pillows".

When Carrie came home from the Prom, she hugged her mom and her mom told her they would pray together. Margaret got a knife and stabbed Carrie in the back. Carrie ran from her mother, but used telekinetic powers to stab her mother to death. Laurie had guest starring roles on the TV series "Cold Case", "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", and "Frasier".
7. I walked out of detention one day and could not go to Prom. Who am I?

Answer: Nancy Allen

Allen, born in 1950 in New York City, played Chris Hargenson. Chris hated Carrie and also disliked the fact that she had to serve detention all because Carrie got her period. One day, in the middle of detention, Chris went up to Miss Collins and told her she was done but Miss Collins said there were still minutes left in detention. Chris said something rude to Miss Collins, who slapped Chris in the face. Chris cursed at Miss Collins and walked off. Chris planned to have Carrie humiliated at the Prom, through pig's blood. Chris was in Billy Nolan's car when Carrie caused it to flip, via telekinesis, and she died. Allen starred in the movies "Circuit", "Out of Sight", and "RoboCop 3".
8. I regretted humiliating Carrie in the locker room one day, and encouraged my boyfriend to take Carrie to the Prom. Who am I?

Answer: Amy Irving

Irving won the role of Sue Snell. Sue was involved in humiliating Carrie in the girl's locker room, when Carrie had her period. Sue accepted her punishment of a week's worth of detention and showed signs of regret for what she did to Carrie. When Chris complained about the detention, one day, Sue just told her to shut up. Sue approached her boyfriend, Tommy, and asked him to take Carrie to the Prom to boost her self-esteem. Sue was outside the gym when the Prom lit up in flames and was the only major character, of the teen set, to survive the movie.

In Sue's final scene, she had a nightmare while she visited Carrie's grave. Irving had guest starring stints on the TV series "Alias", "Spin City", and "Happy Days". From November 27th, 1985 to February 2nd, 1989, Irving was married to legendary film director, Stephen Spielberg.
9. I protected my daughter when she was emotionally scarred over Carrie's death. Who am I?

Answer: Priscilla Pointer

Pointer, born on May 18th, 1924 in New York City, had the minor role of Mrs. Eleanor Snell. Eleanor's first scene involved Margaret White, Carrie's mom, since Mrs. White came over and asked her if she would like a Bible. Eleanor told her "thanks but no thanks" and Margaret preached, for a little bit, and left Eleanor's home.

At the end of the movie, Eleanor picked up the phone and was relieved that it was a friend on the other line, since she could not take another reporter phoning her house. Eleanor was last seen when she comforted Sue right after Sue woke up from a nightmare. Pointer starred in the movies "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors", "Painted Desert", and "Carried Away".

She is the real life mother of Amy Irving, who played Sue Snell in Brian De Palma's "Carrie".
10. Miss Collins told me to wipe the smirk off my face right before she told me I would spend detention with her for a week. Who am I?

Answer: P.J. Soles

Soles, a native of Frankfurt, Germany, was cast as Norma Watson. Norma was one of the girls who threw tampons at Carrie when she had her period. Collins lectured the class about Carrie White's feelings and about how what they did was cruel. Norma did not take Mrs. Collins' scolding seriously, despite Miss Collins telling her to stop smiling. During detention, when Norma and all the other girls had to exercise for 50 minutes every day after school for a week, she was seen wearing red shorts while everyone else wore black shorts.

At the Prom, Norma laughed when she saw Carrie covered in pig's blood and Carrie killed her. Soles guest starred on the TV series "Hardcastle and McCormick", "Simon & Simon", and "Cheers".
