Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When the Doctor accidentally stabbed himself during a lecture with a scalpel, where was the stab wound?

Answer: Thigh

A student had the gall to suggest that his grandfather's work on dead bodies had merit, and the Doctor learned a valuable lesson about waving a knife around while on a rant.
2. What was the track number that the train stopped on at the Transylvania Station?

Answer: 29

The dialogue in the scene was a play on words taken from the Glenn Miller hit 'Chattanooga Choo Choo', complete with a shoeshine boy at the stop for the Doctor to ask where the train was.
3. What part of Igor's body kept changing during the movie?

Answer: Hump

The Doctor never could quite figure out what was going on with that hump.
4. Whose last name, when spoken, caused lightning and thunder to occur, and scared the horses?

Answer: Blucher

The effect even worked indoors away from the horses, when the Doctor asked her to leave after turning down an offer of a late evening drink of Ovaltine.
5. Which one of the characters was found standing in the lab with their head in the exact spot where a newly dead head was supposed to be?

Answer: Igor

'I ain't got no body. And no body cares for me.' While searching the lab, the Doctor and Inga run across Igor, who breaks into a song.
6. How many switches did Igor have to throw on the machine during the re-animation sequence?

Answer: 3

The lightning-powered machine in the movie was built to match the machine in the original movie.
7. While choking Igor, the Doctor asked if he was being told that he had put an abnormal brain in a 'seven-and-a-half-foot long, _____-inch wide gorilla?' How wide was the monster?

Answer: 54

When the Doctor discovered that the 'name' of the person whose brain he'd put in the monster was Abbey Normal, he got just a bit annoyed.
8. What game did the Doctor play with Inspector Kemp?

Answer: Darts

Who would have known that an errant dart could break through a window and still have enough momentum to penetrate a tire, if it wasn't for this movie?
9. What was the name of the girl that the monster played with?

Answer: Helga

This was one of several scenes in the movie where a humorous version of the scene replaced the original, darker, version. Originally, the girl was killed by the monster, vs. being sent via teeter-totter to her upstairs bedroom.
10. Who was a 'Mother's angel'?

Answer: The Monster

When the Doctor made the decision to be locked in a room alone with the monster, the value of stroking the monster's ego became clear.
11. When Frau Blucher got a telegram that the Doctor's fiancee was about to arrive and took it to him, she found him and Inga together on the operating table. What article of clothing did she suggest he put on?

Answer: Tie

This is why you should always lock the lab door while having 'an intellectual discussion' with your assistant.
12. When Frederick's fiance Elizabeth arrived at the castle, who was she surprised to discover at the castle?

Answer: Igor

From her reaction it seemed fairly clear to me that the two of them had known each other in the past, but that's one part of the story line that the movie didn't delve into. Of course, it was rated PG.
13. What was Elizabeth's 'lucky number'?

Answer: 7

Once you see this movie, 'Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life' will never work as a serious love song again.
14. When the Doctor transfered some of his brain to the monster, Inga and Igor had to wait exactly how many minutes before stopping the transference?

Answer: 15

As to what the Doctor got back in return, we can only imagine, but the song 'Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life' was involved again.
15. In Elizabeth's final scene, her hairstyle paid homage to an earlier movie. Which one?

Answer: Bride of Frankenstein

The style was very tall and had a long white streak running through it. It was a duplicate of the hairstyle for the female monster in 'Bride of Frankenstein'.
