Written by Amanda McBroom, "The Rose" was performed by Bette Midler in the movie of the same name that was loosely based on the life of Janis Joplin. This was Midler's first starring role, for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.

"It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" was the only number one hit off of Billy Joel's album "Glass Houses". The album did win Joel the Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Male.

Answer: Funkytown

Formed in 1977, Lipps, Inc. had their only number one hit song with "Funkytown". It was written by Steven Greenberg, the group member who wrote and produced all of their songs.
4. What was the #7 hit for the year 1980? "You want a love to last forever, One that will never fade away. I want to help you with your problem, Stick around I say. Coming up, whoooooa. Coming up."

Paul McCartney recorded and released "Coming Up" as a solo effort. However disc jockeys started playing the B side of the record, which was a "Live at Glasgow" version of the same song, performed with Wings. It was the live version which rose to the number one position.

The Captain and Tenille were a very successful recording duo who had their own weekly variety show in the 70s. Toni Tenille wrote this song, which became their second number one hit.

Fronted by flamboyant lead singer Freddie Mercury, Queen had two number one hits in 1980. "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" was one of them, and "Another One Bites the Dust" the other. Both were off the album "The Game", which was the group's first number one album in the U.S.

"Magic" was written by John Farrar, and performed by Olivia Newton John for the box office flop, "Xanadu", which also starred Newton John. Fans may not have liked the film, but the song was a number one hit. Newton John was born in England, and moved to Australia when only five. She returned to England twelve years later, as the result of winning a talent contest.

Born the seventh of nine children, Michael Jackson had a hugely successful career as the lead singer of the Jackson Five. His first solo album was "Off the Wall", and "Rock With You", written by Rod Temperton, was one of four number one hits off that album.

"Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2" was written by the bass player of the band Pink Floyd. Concerts during the "Wall" tour were interesting in that an actual wall would be constructed on stage during the performance. The band took its name from two blues musicians, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.

Answer: Call Me

From the movie "American Gigolo", "Call Me" was the second number one hit in America for Blondie. Blondie was started in 1974 when art student and guitarist Chris Stein met waitress and former Playboy Bunny, Debbie Harry. Other band members joined a year later.
