Question 1 of 10
1. Let's do the obvious one first: did he or did he not pose nude for Rolling Stone magazine in 1972?

Answer yes if he did, no if he did not.

Question 2 of 10
2. What is the name of the fan who was trampled to death at his show in London's White City Stadium on May 26, 1974? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. On his 1975 solo album David recorded a Paul McCartney cover version. It was to be his final "semi hit" - meaning it received some airplay but nowhere near as much airplay as he received while he was still actively a teen star. What is interesting is that in Europe (I honestly do not know much about his stardom in the USA in the seventies) Paul McCartney actually came out in Melody Maker or New Musical Express as saying he preferred David's cover of his song to his own version (I'd agree).

What was the name of the song I am referring to?
Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Who was the guitar player who was prominently featured on David Cassidy's final album during his reign as a "teeny bopper", "Gettin' It In The Streets", in 1976? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. What hugely famous song was written for David's brilliant 'The Higher They climb The Harder They Fall' LP in 1975? Note: This was not the version that became the hit you know (although it did go to number eleven in the UK). Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. In 1974 David Cassidy put out his masterpiece: a concept album entitled "The Higher They Climb, The Harder They Fall". My favorite song of that year featured a singing duo of whom it can be said they 'made' the cover of David Cassidy singing "Darlin'". Who are these vocal gods? (and if you really want to have some fun look for the youtube video with them dancing and singing along with David) Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. I suppose I have to put a Partridge Family question in her (Sorry Dave, but I just don't know THAT much about you!). So I'll just go for the obvious one: what was his first name on the show "The Partridge Family"? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. What was the name of the television show on which David Cassidy gave his final TV appearance as an actor? He played the character Peter Coe. Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. At his most popular, David was the world's highest paid live performer, and his official fan club was the largest in pop history - exceeding Elvis Presley and The Beatles.

Question 10 of 10
10. On November 21, 2017, what did David Cassidy die of? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Let's do the obvious one first: did he or did he not pose nude for Rolling Stone magazine in 1972? Answer yes if he did, no if he did not.

Answer: Yes

In 1972 David did an (at the time) somewhat outrageous interview for Rolling Stone magazine which included a number of nude and semi nude photos of him (no you could not actually see his genitals, but you could see his pubic hair). Even though he was one of the biggest stars in the world at this time (and his solo career was just getting started), there are many who believe that these photos and the article hurt his career in the long run especially because of the cover where he appeared nude in a cropped Annie Leibovitz photo.
2. What is the name of the fan who was trampled to death at his show in London's White City Stadium on May 26, 1974?

Answer: Bernadette Whelan

This was one of the reasons he basically threw away his career. Almost 800 people were injured at this show. It was this show that really made him quit the mega tours and try everything he could to no longer be a teeny bopper star. (I would like to add that precious few famous people have had this kind of integrity. He basically threw away his career because of this.)

Answer: Tomorrow

"Tomorrow" is the correct answer and yes: David's version truly outdoes Paul McCartney's original version from 1971's "Wings Wild Life" LP. Unfortunately David had pretty much had it with the whole Teen Star by then and did precious little to promote the song.

It went to number Ten in South Africa! What Paul specifically said about David's cover of his song was that David was "taking the song to its ultimate potential". The track "Cruise To Harlem" was from his next album and cowritten with Brian Wilson!
4. Who was the guitar player who was prominently featured on David Cassidy's final album during his reign as a "teeny bopper", "Gettin' It In The Streets", in 1976?

Answer: Mick Ronson

Yeppers: Mick Ronson was all over the "Gettin' It in the Street" single. It was not the greatest album of David's career (that'd be "The Higher They Climb"). This was the last album released by David in the USA until 1990. The title track only reached number 105 in the Billboard "Bubbling Under" chart when it was released as a single.
5. What hugely famous song was written for David's brilliant 'The Higher They climb The Harder They Fall' LP in 1975? Note: This was not the version that became the hit you know (although it did go to number eleven in the UK).

Answer: I Write The Songs

Of all things it's "I Write The Songs", written by the Beach Boys' Bruce Johnston. Regardless of if you like the song or not, if you bought the album (and I hope you did) you heard it here first. The song actually makes perfect sense within the context of the record!
(and if you really want to have some fun look for the youtube video with them dancing and singing along with David)

Answer: Flo & Eddie

In MY personal opinion it cannot be overstated how much Flo & Eddie contributed to this single. Hell: this album. Of anybody David worked with, it is these two that I consider his most successful collaboration. Flo & Eddie are Marc Volman and Howard Kaylan of the Turtles and the Mothers (they teamed up with Frank Zappa after the Turtles split up).
7. I suppose I have to put a Partridge Family question in her (Sorry Dave, but I just don't know THAT much about you!). So I'll just go for the obvious one: what was his first name on the show "The Partridge Family"?

Answer: Keith

This question almost embarrasses me. While I liked the show lots, except for the song "Can't You Feel My Heartbeat" I kind of couldn't stand their music (and the only thing I even own by them is on one half of the David Cassidy bootleg). I doubt David would be all that wild about there being a question about them in a quiz basically about him as a solo artist. Sorry about this question David. On the show he played Keith Partridge, the singer and guitar player of the family.
8. What was the name of the television show on which David Cassidy gave his final TV appearance as an actor? He played the character Peter Coe.

Answer: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

Ok, ok I'm stretching here. I know precious little about his career as an actor beyond what I have learned here today. It's his music that made me a fan. But for those of you who have dug further into his career over the years here's a TV related question.

This was his last appearance as an actor, in 2013. His acting career started when he was a kid and initially an actor was all he was. His career in music started with the Partridge Family TV series.
9. At his most popular, David was the world's highest paid live performer, and his official fan club was the largest in pop history - exceeding Elvis Presley and The Beatles.

Answer: True

He was even bigger than I thought! Goes to show how little I knew about him from growing up in Germany between 1971 and 1976! According to the web the question is 100% truthful. I lived in Germany when he was huge. Yeah: he was very popular over there for a brief time but nowhere near as big as he was in the UK and the USA. I got quite a bit of knowledge about him researching this quiz as I loved the guy because of his solo records, not his "teen idol" thing!
10. On November 21, 2017, what did David Cassidy die of?

Answer: Dementia and organ failure

Many people thought on his second to last club tour that he was appearing on stage very drunk or stoned. This was due to his dementia, not drink or narcotics. While I LOATH when the phrase "sadly" is used when somebody dies but in one or two cases I'll make an exception. David Cassidy's death was a sad thing for me. I never got to see him live or meet him. And he was in my top three of people I wanted to meet. I suppose since I have had seven of the second deadliest causes of death in the past two years (strokes) I might be joining him soon and finally get to meet him in the afterlife. I hope we get along.
