Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Sara" was written to Dylan's first wife, but that was not her birth name. What was her real name?

Answer: Shirley

Her birth name is Shirley Noznisky, but she later had it changed to Sara.
2. How many songs did Bob Dylan write to and about Sara?

Answer: 4

The first one was "Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands" on the "Blonde On Blonde" album; it's mentioned in the third verse of "Sara", the second one is "Wedding Song" on the album "Planet Waves", the third one is "If Not For You" on the album "New Morning" and the last is, of course, "Sara".
3. Finish the first verse of "Sara"--"I laid on the dune, I looked at the sky, when the children were babies and played on the beach, you came up behind me, I saw you go by..."

Answer: "you were always so close, still within reach"

This line plunges the listener into this song's chorus, where Bob pleads her to reconsider her leaving him with the line, "Sara, Sara, what ever made you wanna change your mind?"

5. Bob plays his harmonica in the song "Sara".

Answer: True

These sweet solos lead us into and out of this love ballad.

Answer: Lily Pond Lane

In this verse, Bob talks about how he first met Sara in a chance meeting.
7. What does Bob say they were drinking in a Portugal bar in verse 3 of "Sara"?

You in a marketplace in Savannah Lemar."
8. Fill in the blank to complete the line--"Sara, Sara, it's all so clear, I could never forget! Sara, Sara, _________is one thing I'll never regret!"

Answer: loving you

He couldn't be any more direct in declaring his wish to stay together with words like that!
9. On which album is "Sara" on and how many songs are on this album?

An aptly named album for this song, indeed. It is also the last on the album.
10. How many takes were needed to record Dylan's "Sara"?

Answer: one

She was sitting in the recording studio watching him when he began to play and sing it. One take, as it turned out, was all Bob needed.
