Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the source of the quote "Half the truth is often a great lie." ? And he should know, he was acquainted with a President who supposedly "could not tell a lie."

Answer: Benjamin Franklin

The quote is taken from Poor Richard's Almanac, July 1758, and therefore credited to Benjamin Franklin. He compiled and printed the almanac using the pseudonym of Richard Saunders, thence "Poor Richard". It was published from 1732 to 1758, selling around 10,000 copies each year.

It covered many topics and he viewed it as "instructional" for the common man, who usually did not buy books. Most of the aphorisms which became so popular and associated with Franklin were not actually written by him but were taken from "many Ages and Nations" but brought him international fame as an author anyway.
