Answer: Huldrych Zwingli

Huldrych Zwingli was a reformer opposed to the radical reformation policies of the time. He met with, and influenced, Martin Luther. He was killed in battle against the Catholic cantons in 1531.

Martin Luther (German) was born November 10, 1483.
John Calvin (French) was born July 10, 1509.
William Booth (British) was born April 10, 1829.

Answer: Jerome David Salinger

Jerome David Salinger is best known for 'The Catcher in the Rye', a novel depicting the loss of innocence in adolescents. In later life, unwanted attention caused him to become somewhat of a recluse, dying in 2010.

Mark Twain (Samuel Langhorne Clemens) (American) was born November 30, 1835.
Edgar Rice Burroughs (American) was born September 1, 1875.
Charles Dickens (British) was born February 7, 1812.

Charles Bickford was best known for his supporting roles, being nominated for three Academy Awards in that category, for the two films mentioned above and 'Johnny Belinda' (1948). He did star with Greta Garbo in 'Anna Christie' but did not develop beyond that. He died in 1967.

Lorenzo de Medici was ruler of the Florentine republic during the Italian Renaissance. Known as Lorenzo the Magnificent, he was patron to such notable artists as Da Vinci, Botticelli and Michelangelo. He died in 1492.

He was born Harold Philby. His childhood nickname "Kim" (from the spy novel "Kim" by Rudyard Kipling) was given to him by his father; and it remained with him for the rest of his life.

Wilhelm Canaris, although a long-serving German naval officer and high-ranking WWII admiral, opposed Hitler's policies of extermination and secretly allied himself with the Allies. He was executed by the Germans in 1945, shortly before war's end. At the time of his death, he was the holder of the Iron Cross, First and Second Class, among other honours.
