Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Outlaw-turned-farmer played by Clint Eastwood in 1992's Western classic, "Unforgiven"

Answer: Will Munny

In addition to starring in the film, Eastwood both directed and produced it. It was a financial and critical success, grossing $15 million on its opening weekend and garnering nine Academy Award nominations and winning four Oscars. Eastwood won Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director. He was also nominated for Best Actor. The film also won Oscars for Best Supporting Actor (Gene Hackman) and Best Film Editing. It was only the third Western to win the Oscar for Best Picture ("Cimarron" in 1931 and "Dances With Wolves" in 1990).

Eastwood dedicated the film to deceased directors Don Siegel, who directed him in five films, including "Dirty Harry," and Sergio Leone, who directed him in the "Spaghetti Westerns." Eastwood also said it would be his last Western.
2. Oklahoma cowboy who said, "I never met a man I dident [sic] like"

Answer: Will Rogers

Although neither of Rogers' parents were full-blooded, Will was still one quarter Cherokee. Perhaps the most famous American of the Great Depression other than presidents Hoover and Roosevelt, Rogers was an authentic cowboy before attaining all the other statuses he's known for, including headliner on radio, stage, and movies, as well as humorist, newspaper columnist and commentator. He made over 70 movies and traveled around the world three times. And you should see a video of him doing rope tricks. He may have been the most trusted man in America in his day.

The quotation in the question is in Will's own words, according to his biography by Paula McSpadden Love.
3. Title cowboy played by Charlton Heston in 1968 Western

Answer: Will Penny

Although Charlton Heston made over 100 films, fewer than ten were purely Westerns. Nonethless, in 2010 he was inducted into the Hall of Great Western Performers in the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

Although best known for his roles as Ben-Hur, for which he won the Oscar for Best Actor, El Cid, Moses (in "The Ten Commandments"), Michelangelo (in "The Agony and the Ecstasy"), and George Taylor (in "Planet of the Apes"), Heston himself has said "Will Penny" is the film he was most proud of and was his favorite screen roll, according to the producer of a re-edit of Heston's 1958 film noir classic "Touch of Evil," directed by Orson Welles. Bruce Dern also said, "'Will Penny' is far and away the best thing he's (Heston's) ever done."
4. The Fresh Prince, rapper and international movie star ("Men in Black," "Independence Day", "Ali")

Answer: Will Smith

An international movie superstar, Will Smith has starred in eleven straight films that have grossed over $150 million worldwide. Eight of his films opened as the top-grossing film for their weekend. He has won four Grammy Awards and has been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and two Oscars.
5. Nine-year-old child prodigy constantly warned by The Robot, "Danger, ____ _____, Danger!"

Answer: Will Robinson

Bill Mumy played the precocious Will Robinson in all 84 episodes of the TV series, "Lost in Space," which ran from 1965 to 1968. In addition to dozens of television appearances in the 60s and 70s, Mumy has also had a voluminous career in voice acting as well as in music. He has written and performed songs with America, played on tour with Rick Springfield and Shaun Cassidy, and created the band, The Be Five with actors from the TV series "Babylon 5," as well as recording several solo CDs in addition to nine albums as a duet known as Barnes and Barnes, with Robert Haimer.
6. "Saturday Night Live" graduate, aka Ron Burgundy, Ricky Bobby, Chazz Michael Michaels, et al.

Answer: Will Ferrell

Although his parents were both from North Carolina originally, Will was born in Irvine, California. His father was a keyboardist with the Righteous Brothers. Will himself honed his comic talents first with a sketch and comedy group known as The Groundlings and then on Saturday Night Live, where he received an Emmy nomination and, in 2001, became SNL's highest-paid cast member. From there he rocketed to a major actor in over 40 comedy films.
7. Intimate companion and possibly close relative of Robin Hood

Answer: Will Scarlet

Due to the wide scope of the Robin Hood legend, Will Scarlet has been depicted as a relative to the hero ranging from distant cousin to nephew to step-brother. Likewise, his surname has also been rendered in such forms as Scarlock, Scatheloke, Shacklock, and many others. He is often depicted as the best swordsman of all the outlaws in Robin's band.
8. In folklore, a night-time spirit or light also known as "jack-o-lantern", "ignus" "fatuus", or "Spunkie" (Scottish Highlands)

Answer: Will-o-the-Wisp

Folktales of Will-o-the-wisp often ascribe the phenomenon to fairies or other elemental spirits. Sometimes the spirit lures nighttime travelers to a bad end, such as the Pixy-light of Devon and Cornwall.

Similar nightly lights are found in many cultures from the Asian marsh ghost-light known as Aleya of the Bengalis or Hitodama and others of Japan, to Australia's Min Min Light.
9. S.F. Giant first baseman, 1989 NLCS MVP, nicknamed "The Thrill"

Answer: Will Clark

Will Clark played 15 seasons in the Big Leagues, from 1986 to 2000. His biggest success came in eight years with the San Francisco Giants, for whom he was a five-time All-Star. He then played five seasons with the Texas Rangers before finishing with the Baltimore Orioles and St. Louis Cardinals. While with the Giants he also won two Silver Slugger Awards at first base, a Gold Glove in 1991, and a National League RBI title.

An outstanding college player at Mississippi State, he was also on the 1984 Olympic Baseball Team. He won the Golden Spikes Award as the best amateur player in American and is a member of four Halls of Fame: the College Baseball Hall of Fame, the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame, and the Mississippi State University Hall of Fame.
10. Pulitzer Prize winner with wife, Ariel, for "Rousseau and Revolution"

Answer: Will Durant

"Rousseau and Revolution" was volume 10 in the monumental work by Will and Ariel Durant called "The Story of Civilization." The first volume, published in 1935, was "Our Oriental Heritage." Durant published the first six volumes by himself and his wife collaborated on the next five. Although he had aimed at writing the history of civilization up to and including the 20th Century, the eleventh volume, "The Age of Napoleon" published in 1975, was their final one. The Durants died within two weeks of one another in 1981.

The Durants were awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977.
