Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Food miraculously provided to the Israelites by God

Answer: What are manna and quail?

While the Israelites travelled on a forty-year-long journey from Egypt to Canaan, Scripture states God miraculously supplied them with manna and quail to eat.

Details about manna, sometimes referred to as bread from heaven, as well as quail being provided to the Israelites can be found in Exodus 16.
2. The first woman whose death is documented in the Bible

Answer: Who is Lot's wife?

One would think the first woman to have her death documented in the Bible would be Eve. However, there are no details about the death of the world's first woman, or of other women who followed immediately after her. In fact, the first woman to have her death documented in Scripture is Lot's wife. Genesis 19:26 tells of Lot's unnamed wife being turned into a pillar of salt when she disobeyed the LORD'S command and looked back to see the devastation of Sodom and Gomorrah.

For the record, Sarah, the wife of Abraham, is the second woman to have her death recorded in the Old Testament. According to Genesis 23:1, Sarah was one hundred and twenty-seven years old when she died.
3. The second oldest person in the Bible

Answer: Who is Jared?

It is well known Methuselah is the oldest person in the Bible, dying at the age of 969 years. Not so well known is the fact Jared is the second oldest person in the Bible. Genesis 5:20 states Jared lived for a total of 962 years. Longevity appears to have been in Jared's genes as his father Mahalalel lived 830 years, as per Genesis 5:16. Jared and Mahalalel are both listed in Luke 3:37 as part of the genealogy of Christ.
4. A prophet of God who was bald

Answer: Who is Elisha?

According to 2 Kings 2:22-24, Elisha, a prophet of God, was bald. The verses tell of Elisha visiting Bethel when a large group of youths mocked him because of his baldness. In the NKJV, the youths are quoted as saying, "Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!" The passage goes on to tell of Elisha pronouncing a curse on them in the name of the LORD with two female bears coming out of the woods and mauling forty-two of the youths.

No further details are given about the incident.
5. A boastful king who degenerated into such depravity he ended up living with animals and eating like them

Answer: Who is Nebuchadnezzar?

Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had his life degenerate into such depravity that he ended up living like an animal. Daniel 4:33 in the NKJV tells of Nebuchadnezzar eating grass like oxen and his hair growing like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds' claws. Daniel accurately predicted such a fate for Nebuchadnezzar after the king called on him to interpret his dreams.

According to Daniel 4, Nebuchadnezzar was a highly egotistical king and gave God no credit for his immense success. The chapter concludes with Nebuchadnezzar regaining his senses and proclaiming he "blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever."
6. A high priest who was deposed by Solomon

Answer: Who is Abiathar?

Abiathar was removed as high priest by Solomon as punishment for supporting Adonijah in a failed attempt to become king of Israel in place of David. Solomon is quoted as telling Adonijah what he had done was worthy of death, as per 1 Kings 2:26-27. However, Solomon said he would spare Adonijah's life and ordered him to return to his fields in Anathoth.
7. The man who ended up being hanged on gallows he built for the execution of Mordecai

Answer: Who is Haman?

In addition to scheming to have all the Jews killed in the Persian empire, Haman had a plan to have his arch-rival Mordecai hanged on extra high gallows he constructed for the occasion. Both plans backfired. The Book of Esther tells of Queen Esther and her cousin Mordecai joining together to prevent Haman from carrying out his plans for mass genocide. And in a classic case of "what goes around, comes around" Haman ended up being hanged on the gallows he had constructed for the purpose of executing Mordecai.
8. The man who was stabbed in the stomach by his cousin Joab

Answer: Who is Amasa?

2 Samuel 20:9-10 tells of Joab murdering his cousin Amasa by stabbing him in the stomach with his left hand. The verses state Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him and then struck him with a sword in the stomach "and his entrails poured out on the ground".

According to 2 Samuel 19:13, the tension between the two started brewing when David replaced Joab as commander of his army with Amasa.
9. The man who had a tent peg driven though his head while he was sleeping

Answer: Who is Sisera?

Sisera, leader of the Canaanite army, had a tent peg driven through his head by Jael after he fell asleep in her tent. Judges 4 tells of the Canaanite army being routed by the Israelites led by Deborah and Barak with Sisera having no choice but to flee. Sisera ended up sleeping in the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber, and she seized the occasion to kill the hated army commander, as per Judges 4:21. Jael's actions are celebrated in the Song of Deborah (Judges 5:24-27).
10. The king who had seven hundred wives, princesses, as well as three hundred concubines

Answer: Who is Solomon?

According to 1 Kings 11:3, King Solomon had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines. Solomon, the son of David, reigned over Israel during its golden period.

Scripture states the many women in Solomon's life led him astray in his later years and he was not fully devoted to the LORD.
