Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was the chief captain of Abimelech's army?

Answer: Phichol

Phichol's name means "great". He was the leader of a Philistine army. Abimelech was king of Gerar. You can read about this in Genesis 26. The question specifically came from verse 26.
2. When Pharaoh's army tried to chase after the Hebrews what happened?

Answer: The water closed killing them all.

The Hebrews were enslaved for thousands of years by the Egyptians. They escaped but got to the Red Sea and were trapped. God told Moses to raise his rod up over the water. When he did the Red Sea parted for them so they could walk across without drowning.

The Egyptian army chased after them, but when they stepped into the Red Sea the waters closed back up drowning them all. You can read about this in Exodus 14. The specific verse I used for this question was verse 9.
3. How does the Bible describe Asa's army in the King James Version?

Answer: mighty in valour

Asa had 300 thousand men from Judah and out of Benjamin 280 thousand men. Valour means courage. You can read about Asa in II Chronicles 14. The verse I used for this question was verse 8.
4. In Song of Solomon verse 6:4 (KJV) what does he compare his love to that is related to the word army?

Answer: terrible as an army with banners

He also says she's "beautiful as Tirzah". Tirzah means "she is my delight". She was the daughter of Zelophehad. He also refers to her as "comely as Jerusalem".
5. The army and what shall lie down together in Isaiah 43:17 in the King James Version?

Answer: the power

Isaiah is a book of prophesy. This verse was prophesy for the Israelites but for us it is now history. It refers to the falling of the Babylonian Empire. Also, many Christians believe it is also prophesy for us today and means that Jesus will one day return again and be glorified.
6. Jeremiah 39:1 says that a king besieged Jerusalem in the ninth year of Zedekiah, king of Judah in the tenth month. Who was this king?

Answer: Nebuchadnezzar

Nebuchadnezzar forced the Israelites to learn the Babylonian customs and follow their religion. Four men (as seen in the book of Daniel chapter 3) refused to do so.
7. What three men were cast into the fiery furnace by Nebuchadnezzar's army?

Answer: Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego

You can read about this in Daniel chapter 3. The three men refused to bow before a Babylonian god. Nebuchadnezzar threw them in a furnace so hot they should have been incinerated instantly. Another man (who most Christians believe was Jesus) was in the furnace with them and saved them. However, the men in Nebuchadnezzar's army died instantly upon touching the fiery furnace.
8. Where in the Old Testament would you find the verse that says, "And the Lord shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it" (KJV)?

Answer: Joel 2:11

Joel is prophesying the return of Christ, most Christians believe. He asks, "Who can abide it?" meaning no kings, no slaves, no anyone shall be able to avoid the judgement of the Lord.
9. According to Acts 23, what man was taken by the Jews and saved by someone with an army?

Answer: Paul

Paul had a hard life. Several times he was captured and almost killed. He was also shipwrecked three times. However, he never stopped living for Christ. In Philippians 1:21, "For me to live is Christ, to die is gain."(KJV)
10. In the KJV what is the last verse in which the word "army" is used? (it is in chapter 19 of Revelation)

Answer: 19

Revelation 19:19 says, "And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army." Most Christians believe that "the one who sat upon the horse" was Jesus and his believers were His army. Also the beast refers to the antichrist, and the army is Satan's demons.
