1. How many goals were scored in the Premiership?

Answer: 1000

2001-02 season's total number of goals was 1001.
2. What was the most frequent score this season?

Answer: 1-0

A total of 49 matches ended in 1-0. 43 times the result was 1-1, 2-1 happened 40 times and 35 matches resulted in a 2-0 score.
3. In Holland we talk about a hat-trick when a player scores three uninterrupted goals in one half. Considering that, how many hat-tricks were scored this season?

Answer: None whatsoever

Which was a repeat of the last year, but in the 2000-2001 season Arsenal striker Sylvain Wiltord and Liverpool striker Michael Owen scored one each that way.
4. What was the highest number of goals in one match?

Answer: 8

It happened twice and remarkably both were matches between Manchester United and Newcastle United, which Manchester United won both. The first match at Old Trafford ended in a 5-3 win, the reverse match ended in a thumping 2-6 win for the Red Devils.
5. Which club was the most productive in the Premiership?

Answer: Arsenal

The Gunners could celebrate no less than 85 times. Manchester United scored 74 times, Chelsea did it 68 times and Newcastle came fourth with 63 goals.
6. Relegated West Ham United was one of two clubs with the lowest number of goalscorers. Which one was the other?

Answer: Manchester United

And in fact, both West Ham and Man United had two goals scored by an opponent. That left only nine players of both clubs to score for their team. Liverpool, West Bromwich Albion and Southampton all had eleven players who scored during the season.
7. How many matches ended in 0-0?

Answer: 21

And that was the lowest number in years. In the 2001-2002 season, 34 matches ended in 0-0, the year before that total was 28. In the 1998-1999 no less than 50 matches were a goalless draw.
8. Which London based club saw the highest number of own goals in its matches?

Answer: Fulham

Fulham conceded 3 own goals, and had four own goals scored for them. In total 28 own goals were scored.
9. How many goals were scored from penalties?

Answer: 73

By comparison: the number of converted penalties from the 1997-1998 season on were: 51, 45, 57, 50 and 47.
10. At how many clubs did the first player to get off the mark ended up the topscorer?

Answer: 3

In reverse order: at Middlesbrough it was Massimo Maccarone (9 goals), at Chelsea it was Gianfranco Zola, (14 goals) and at Arsenal Thierry Henry was the main man. He scored 24 goals, which was the same number as in the previous season where he also scored the first Arsenal goal.
