1. New York Knicks basketball star forward, Dave Debusschere, also played in the Major Leagues. Which position did this 6'6" diverse person play with the Chicago White Sox?

Answer: Pitcher

At 6'6", it would be unlikely that he would have played the other positions listed. Dave played for two seasons with the White Sox in 1962 and 1963, before beginning his NBA career with the Knickerbockers.
2. Before becoming a St. Louis Cardinal pitching great, Bob Gibson played for which sports team?

Answer: Harlem Globetrotters

In 1957, Bob Gibson found himself in a Globetrotters' uniform. In 1959, Gibson changed to a pair of pants with long legs. In his first season with the Cardinals, he pitched in only 13 games. From there, Gibson became one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball history.

In 1968, Gibson won the Cy Young and season MVP, then the Cy Young again in 1970. He pitched for 17 seasons, all with the Cardinals, retiring in 1975. Gibson was a Hall of Fame inductee in 1981.

Halas played on the 1919 New York Yankees for one season. Wally Pipp was the Yankees' regular first baseman until 1925, when Lou Gehrig replaced him and began his consecutive game playing streak. Also on the 1919 Yankees was pitcher Carl Mays, who killed Ray Chapman of the Indians in 1920, by hitting him unintentionally in the head with a pitch.

The 6'7" Connors came from Seton Hall college, and played with the Celtics in the 1946-47 and 1947-48 season. From there it was on to Major League baseball, where he played with the Dodgers in the 1949 season, then played 66 games with the Cubs in 1951. Born Kevin Joseph Aloysius Connors, he later became the popular TV star, 'The Rifleman', as Lucas McCain.
5. Minnesota Viking and Detroit Lion running back, DJ Dozier, played for which other professional sports team?

Answer: New York Mets

DJ ran for a NFL career average of four yards along with nine touchdowns over five seasons. He retired as a Lion in 1991, after spending four seasons with the Vikings. In 1992, he played in 25 games for the New York Mets.
6. Bo Jackson was a running back with the NFL Raiders. Which Major League team did Bo play with, at the same time he was running the football?

Answer: Kansas City Royals

Bo ran the ball for the Raiders from 1987-1990, with 5.4 yards per carry. In the same time frame, Bo was also running the bases for the Royals, mainly as an outfielder. After eight baseball seasons and some hip injuries, Bo retired from professional sports in 1994.
7. Track and field Olympic great, Jim Thorpe, also played professional football. He also played in six seasons for which Major League baseball team?

Answer: New York Giants

The other teams existed only after Thorpe's death in 1953. From 1913-1919, Thorpe played for the Giants of New York. In his final season in 1919 with the Giants and then Boston Braves of the National League, he hit his career high batting average of .327.

His comeback in 1997 saw him steal a career high 56 bases. He came back for one more season in a limited role in 2001 as a Red. Deion played in only 32 games for Cincinnati in that season.
