He served almost four years in the Navy and earned eight battle stars as a chief specialist on the battleship Alabama.

Answer: Johnny Podres

He helped the Brooklyn Dodgers win their World Series in 1955 by beating the Yankees in game 7. He also helped win two more World Series in 1959 and 1963.

No pitcher has thrown 3 no-hitters in a season during the 20th Century or even prior to that. When Nolan pitched 2 no-hitters in 1973 he was the 4th to achieve two in a season. The first 3 were: Johnny Vander Meer (Cincinnati NL) in 1938, Allie Reynolds (New York AL) in 1951, and Jim Maloney (Cincinatti NL) in 1965.
