Swimming has been an Olympic sport for men since the 1st modern Athens Olympic Games in 1896. In 1912, at the Stockholm Olympic Games, the women's competition was introduced. It includes four styles - breaststroke, backstroke, freestyle and butterfly - individual medley, and a relay.

Princess Charlene participated in the 2000 Sydney Olympics as a South Africa 4x100m medley relay team member and won fifth place. Charlene Lynette Wittstock was born in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), but her family relocated to South Africa when she was a child. She was a professional swimmer from 1999 to 2007. In 2000 she met Albert, Prince of Monaco, at a swimming meet. They were married in 2011.

In the 1964 Olympics, the Aga Khan competed in slalom, giant slalom, and downhill. He placed 30th in the slalom final, the Iranian team's best position. Prince Shah Karim Al-Husayni, mostly known as Aga Khan IV, is the religious leader (Imam) of the Nizari Ismailism, a denomination within Shia Islam. He and his family are considered direct descendants of the Prophet Muhammad. He was born in Geneva, Switzerland, and has British and Portuguese citizenship.

The high jump and the long jump have been Olympic events in the Ancient Olympic Games and present in the men's competitions since the 1st modern Olympiad in 1896. The competition for women was introduced in 1928 for the high jump and 1948 for the long jump. Both events belong to track and field and require a combination of speed, technique, and strength.

Adegboyega Folaranmi Adedoyin competed both in the high jump and the long jump in the 1948 Games. He placed fifth in the final of the long jump with 7.20 meters and twelfth in the high jump with 1.90 meters. Adegboyega Folaranmi Adedoyin was a Nigerian prince, the second son of a king of the Ijebu tribe. Since Nigeria was a colony at the time of his birth, he competed in the Olympics as a British citizen. He became a gynecologist and eventually returned to Nigeria.

Born in 1937, Harald V became King of Norway in 1991, being the third child and the only son of King Olav V. He won gold, silver, and bronze medals in World and European Sailing Championships and became a patron of World Sailing, the international governing body of sailing.

Fencing is one of the sports which has been present in every Olympic Games since the 1st Modern Olympiad in Athens in 1896. It consists of three events, foil, epée and sabre, both for men and women. Wheelchair fencing debuted in the first Paralympic Games in Rome in 1960.

Prince de Caraman-Chimay competed in épée in the 1900 Olympic Games. Nineteen countries participated in the event and, strangely enough, during the qualifying rounds, the contestants were judged on fencing style rather than on the actual win. Marie Joseph Anatole Élie de Riquet et de Caraman, 19th Prince de Chimay was a Belgian aristocrat whose family owned the famous Chimay Castle in Chimay, Hainaut, Belgium.
8. Felipe VI, King of Spain, represented Spain in the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.

In the 1992 Barcelona Olympiad's sailing competition there were three men's events, three women's events and four mixed events. Felipe was a member of the Spanish Olympic sailing team and his country's flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the 1992 Barcelona Games, which took place in Spain.

He competed in the Soling class, and he and his team placed sixth. His father, King Carlos, mother, Queen Sofia, sister, and uncle have all participated in Olympic sailing events. Felipe has served as an honorable member of the International Soling Association.

Equestrianism made its Olympic debut in the 1900 Paris Olympic Games. It is one of the sports that were part of the Ancient Olympic Games but in chariot races and not horseback riding. The modern Olympic event involves three equestrian disciplines, dressage, eventing, and jumping, and it is the only Olympic event where both men and women participate and compete against each other.

Anne was the first member of the British royal family to ever participate in an Olympiad. In the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, she competed in eventing, riding the Queen's horse, Goodwill. During her routine, she suffered a concussion but did manage to cross the finish line. Her passion for equestrianism started at the age of 11, and she participated with the English colors in many equestrian events on a British and European level. She even served as the President of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports in the late 1980s and early 1990s and became a member of the IOC as chairman of the IOC Members Election Commission.

In the 1960 Rome Olympiad's sailing event, the boat classes that competed were Finn, Flying Dutchman, Star, Dragon and 5.5 Metre. Crown Prince Constantine, later King Constantine II, and the crew members of the Nireus Sailing Vessel competed in the Dragon class in the Rome Olympics and won the gold medal. Constantine's sister Sofia, later Queen Sofia of Spain, was a substitute member for the race.

The other crew members were Odysseus Eskidioglou and Georgios Zaimis. Constantine is an honorary member of the IOC.

He ceased being a king with the abolition of monarchy in the June 1, 1973 referendum.
