Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What reason did former Eagles head coach Buddy Ryan give for cutting future Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter?

Answer: "All he can do is score touchdowns."

Apparently according to Buddy, scoring touchdowns is a bad thing. Ryan cut Carter after the 1989 season. Cris certainly had the last laugh, winding up 2nd all-time to Jerry Rice in career pass receptions at the time of his retirement.
2. How many playoff games did the Eagles win during the 1980s?

Answer: 2

The Eagles qualified for the playoffs four times in the 80s but were eliminated in the first round three times. The two games they won were against the Vikings and Cowboys on their way to Super Bowl XV.
3. Eagles great Wilbert Montgomery ended his career with what team?

Answer: Detroit Lions

Wilbert played for the Eagles from 1977-1984 and finished his career in Detroit in 1985. He had 6,789 career rushing yards.
4. Who set an Eagles record by passing for 447 yards in one game?

Answer: Randall Cunningham

This happened in a wild 42-37 win over the Redskins on September 17,1989. The Redskins scored touchdowns on each of their first two plays from scrimmage, and at one point held a 37-14 lead.
5. The Eagles did not win a single playoff game during the 1970s.

Answer: False

The Eagles beat the Chicago Bears 27-17 in the 1979 NFC Wildcard game, for their only playoff win of the 70s.
6. Former Eagle QB Ron Jaworski attended what college?

Answer: Youngstown St.

Jaworski was a 2nd round draft pick of the Los Angeles Rams in 1973. He played for the Eagles from 1977-1986, and at the time of his retirement was the Eagles all time leader in passing yardage and passing TD's.
7. Which of these players never played for the Eagles?

Answer: Mike Merriweather

Mike Ditka played in 1967 and 1968. Art Monk caught 6 passes in three games for the Eagles in 1995. Dennis Harrison was a defensive end for the team from 1978-1984. Mike Merriweather was a linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings, and New York Jets.
8. The Eagles played in the highest scoring post-season game in the 20th century?

Answer: True

The Eagles beat the Detroit Lions 58-37 in a 1995 NFC Wildcard game.
9. Which receiver set an Eagles record with 88 pass receptions in one season?

Answer: Irving Fryar

Fryar caught 88 passes in 1996. He also tied a team record that year when he scored 4 touchdowns in a 35-28 win over his ex-team, the Miami Dolphins.
10. What college did former Eagles defensive end Reggie White attend?

Answer: Tennessee

White was drafted by the Eagles in the first round of the 1984 supplemental draft. He was a nemesis to my team (Redskins) for many years, but deserves a lot of respect both as a player and as a person. The Hall awaits.
