Brolin, born on July 18th, 1940 in Los Angeles, California guest starred as Robert Ritchie, the Republican Governor of Florida, in this episode. He portrayed the character for a total of two episodes. He has also guest starred on the TV series', "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit", "Monk" and "Roseanne."

He arrested one of the robbers but was shot dead by the other one.

Midway through the episode, Sam went into Toby's office and he read a quote which Governor Ritchie had made about President Bartlet's plan to help with the Everglades. Ritchie claimed that the cost to save the park would be so expensive that it would tax farmers into unemployment. Sam suggested that Toby call the Associated Press to inform them that Governor Ritchie was mistaken.

President Bartlet and Governor Ritchie agreed to meet in New York City while at the play but it was Sam who learned that Governor Ritchie went to the Yankees game instead.
