Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Show me that smile again, don't waste another minute on your cryin'..."

Answer: Growing Pains

The theme song is called "As Long as We Got Each Other", the lyrics read: "Show me that smile again, don't waste another minute on your cryin', we're nowhere near the end, the best is ready to begin...". "Growing Pains" starred Alan Thicke and Joanna Kerns as Jason and Carol Seaver, and Kirk Cameron (what a hottie he was back then!), Tracey Gold and Jeremy Miller as the kids. Leonardo Dicaprio also got his start on this sitcom, he was a regular in the last season.
2. "And I'll bet we'll be together for a million more..."

Answer: Family Ties

Excellent theme song, the part with the mentioned lyric goes "I bet we been together for a million years, and I bet we'll be together for a million more.. Oh, It's like I started breathing on the night we kissed, and I can't remember what I ever did before...". "Family Ties" launched the career of Michael J. Fox as a teen heart-throb! The show starred Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter as Steven and Elyse Keaton, Justine Bateman and Tina Yothers (along with Michael J. Fox) as the kids.
3. "Standing tall, on the wings of my dreams..."

Answer: Perfect Strangers

The theme song goes - "Standing tall, On the wings of my dreams, Rise and fall, On the wings of my dreams, rain and thunder, the wind and haze I'm bound for better days, It's my life, It's my dream, Nothing's gonna stop me now...". "Perfect Strangers" was about two cousins, Balky (Bronson Pinchot) and Larry (Mark Linn-Baker) with completely opposite personalities!
4. "Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant..."

Answer: The Golden Girls

A great theme song that I'll always remember, the song goes: "Thank you for being a friend, traveled down the road and back again, your heart is true you're a pal and a confidant...". What a heartwarming sitcom, we will never forget the four gals - Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia.
5. "There were times, when I lost a dream or two..."

Answer: Who's the Boss

Loved this sitcom, the theme song starts with "There's a time for love and a time for living, You take a chance and face the wind, An open road and a road that's hidden, A brand new life around the bend...". This sitcom starred Tony Danza (now starring in Family Law) as the housekeeper, Judith Light (now acting as Claire Meade on Ugly Betty) as his boss and a young Alyssa Milano (of Charmed fame) as Tony Danza's daughter.
6. "It's a rare condition, this day and age..."

Answer: Family Matters

Who could ever forget Urkel? The theme song goes "It's a rare condition, this day and age, to read any good news on the newspaper page, love and tradition of the grand design, some people say it's even harder to find...". Urkel (played by Jaleel White) was a major nerd, he made the show so watchable and funny. "Family Matters" was a spin-off from "Perfect Strangers".
7. "Everywhere you look, there's a heart, a hand to hold on to..."

Answer: Full House

One of my absolute favorite sitcoms of the early 90s - after the above lyric it goes "Everywhere you look (everywhere), there's a face of somebody who needs you, when you're lost out there and your all alone, a light is waiting to carry you home... everywhere you look...".

This sitcom was the starting point for the careers of the now famous Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who played the Michelle(Danny Tanner's daughters) on 'Full House'.
8. "I'm at the corner just in time to see the bus fly by..."

Answer: Saved by the Bell

The part with the lyric above goes "When I wake up in the morning,
and the alarm gives out a warning, I don't think I'll ever make it on time, by the time I grab my books, and I give myself a look, I'm at the corner just in time to see the bus fly by, it's alright 'cause I'm Saved by the Bell!" This sitcom launched the careers of Mark-Paul Gosselaar (of "NYPD Blue" and "Commander in Chief" fame) and Mario Lopez (of "Dancing with the Stars" fame).
9. "Sometimes you wanna go...where everybody knows your name..."

Answer: Cheers

The theme song goes: "Sometimes you wanna go, where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came, you wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same, you wanna be where everybody knows your name...". "Cheers" is a classic sitcom that starred Ted Danson and Kirstie Alley (amongst many others), and also launched the spin-off "Frasier".
10. "Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song, I will try not to sing out of key..."

Answer: Wonder Years

The lyric above is part of the first verse, which goes "What would you do if I sang out tune, would you stand up and walk out on me, lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song, I will try not to sing out of key, yeah...". "The Wonder Years" starred Fred Savage as Kevin Arnold, Dan Lauria as Kevin's dad and Jason Hervey as Kevin's annoying older brother, Wayne. Undoubtedly one of the most memorable TV sitcoms of all time.
