The show commenced with two men loading bags out of a car. When one of them went to retrieve the other bags, he noticed someone was going up in the air with the bags. After this he was shot to death.

Kate and Castle were at the loft when Kate got a call that there had been a homicide. Castle commented on how they were always intended to be at a crime scene. However, Kate said she could not go because she had a meeting with the District Attorney.

The team went to the crime scene and Lanie identified him as Michael Kirby. She also stated that the killer came down from an air conditioning shaft. Castle noticed some body spray so Lanie informed him that the killer used it to disable the security system.

Answer: Gold coins

Javier mentioned that the facts from this crime made him recall a time nine years ago when gold coins were stolen. Kate recalled that one person who was involved in the heist was named Sonia, who was in prison. She went to the prison to talk with Sonia.

Answer: Hammerhead

During Kate's interrogation with Sonia, Sonia mentioned that another chief person involved in the gold coin heist was dead. She did say that she knew the nickname of someone involved in the heist: Hammerhead. Kate immediately relayed this information to Javier, Kevin, and Castle.

Javier mentioned that he was smitten with Sonia when he arrested her but that those feelings were long gone. When he saw her again (Sonia broke out of prison but was then later used to assist on the investigation), he was shocked to see her wearing the same dress as from when he arrested her. Javier went over to Sonia and advised her on how to help out with the investigation into Hammerhead.

Javier and Sonia went to Hammerhead's apartment and Hammerhead attacked Javier. He was arrested so Javier and Kate accused him of killing Michael Kirby. However, Hammerhead stated that he was in New Jersey at a chicken restaurant when the murder ensued.

The team continued looking into the gold coin heist and saw that the victim, Michael Kirby, got $10,000 from it. Kevin interviewed his wife and said that, as the money went into their joint account, she could be charged as an accessory. Mrs. Kirby mentioned that her husband borrowed money from the wrong people.

Kevin contacted Javier via his cell later in the episode to give him a key piece of information. He said that Michael Kirby was the inside man on the heist and that cell phone records revealed that three calls were placed to Sonia's prison. Kevin stated that this meant that Sonia was in on the car heist.

Kate was at the loft with Martha and Alexis and the latter two told her they were so happy that she was home. As they celebrated that fact, Lucy played the theme song from "Psycho". Kate got the sense that Lucy did not like her so she stuffed her in the refrigerator. Martha and Alexis commented on how that seemed extreme.
