8.13 "And Justice For All" Trivia Quiz

The show started with a card that read "Manhattan Zoo" and then it went to a reptile exhibit. An employee there was speaking to the creatures and he noticed an animal out of its cage. He put the animal back and then someone came from behind and killed him.

Castle was trying to write a new novel but could not find any ideas. Kate noticed some letters so she asked Castle if they were fan mail. He said they pertained to his appearance on "Good Morning America" where he asked people to write in with theories on how he was abducted for the eight weeks.

He said he was rereading the letters (despite being over a year old) to get some inspiration for his new novel.

Kate, Javier and Kevin were at the crime scene and Kate was surprised when they said they could not identify the victim at that time. The reason was the victim was in a pit surrounded by snakes. They thought it was a guy named Eddie Ramirez, who was from El Salvador.

Castle showed up at the morgue and Kate told him that it looked like she had a clue in regards to the murder. She saw a text from a day ago where someone asked Eddie to repay him/her. Kate believed the number was from a blocked number.

The team wondered how Eddie could have a lot of money when he had a low wage job at the zoo. They then found out from Vikram that Eddie was in an English as a Second Language course at a local school. Eddie had missed class shortly before his murder. Kate believed that one of the students in the class was involved in Eddie's murder.

Kate called Castle via phone and wanted to know how he could interpret a text that was based on linguistics. Castle mentioned that he was able to match the syntax. Due to this, Kate believed that it would be a good idea for Castle to go undercover at the English as a Second Language class. He impersonated a French Canadian immigrant.

The team questioned Aida since they believed she had information on Eddie's murder. She mentioned that the school was threatening to kick her out so she wanted her tuition money refunded. Eddie promised to get her the money.

Castle spoke to someone name Achmed and he said that Eddie helped an undocumented woman named Anita Rodriguez. Per Achmed, Anita also needed money so Eddie was hoping to assist her in that endeavor. While he helped her, he stumbled upon a dangerous conspiracy. Achmed feared that he was responsible for Eddie's murder.

Kate asked Javier and Kevin to go check out a locker since their suspect in Eddie's murder investigation had a key to the locker. When they got there, they were arrested by members of the FBI. Kate arrived and told them that no briefing came across her desk that the FBI was staking out that location.

Later in the show, Vikram stated that he found Anita Rodriguez's whereabouts and she was in a detention center in Texas awaiting deportation. Judge Jason Caldwell signed the deportation order. A day before Ramirez's murder, he confronted Judge Caldwell since he thought Judge Caldwell was involved in an extortion scheme.
