Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A common term used among anime watchers is "The Big Three". Which one of these animes is undisputedly one of these three giants?

Answer: One Piece

"The Big Three" most commonly refers to the three animes "One Piece", "Naruto", and "Bleach". Their nickname comes from the fact that they are among the longest-running and most successful animated films to ever be grossed.
2. "Isekai" is a genre that refers to accidental travel, usually to another world in which the character starts a new life. Out of these comedic animes which one does not have Isekai as a genre?

Answer: Kill La Kill

"Kill La Kill" is set in the same world it started in and revolves around the protagonist searching for the killer of her father. The protagonist from "Konosuba" gets isekai'd after a humiliating death and a glowing light transports the main character in "Isekai Cheat Magician" to a fantasy world.

In "Arifureta" the main character is transported to another world along with his entire class.
3. In the anime "A Certain Magical Index", who is nicknamed "Biribiri" by a certain male who happens to be the main character of the series?

Answer: Mikoto Misaka

Mikoto Misaka is a lightning esper who also happens to be a tsundere (Hot-headed and hostile whilst gradually softening as time goes on). She gets called "Biribiri" which means "shocker" in Japanese by Kamijou Touma. Index is a character that the story is heavily based upon as well as Accelerator, who happens to be the top esper in Academy City. Kuroko is Mikoto's best friend and also loves her very affectionately.
4. Animation and art design has improved over the years and has drastically made anime more visually appealing. However, there are some that receive criticism for their under-par visuals. Which one of these animes, that aired in 2019, received heavy disapproval for the lack of visual sophistication, especially in the form of many criticizing and parody videos on the platform Youtube?

Answer: The Seven Deadly Sins Season 3

The bad animation was heavily criticized by the anime community and severely lowered the score the season received compared to the previous successful first and second seasons. "Vinland Saga", "Dr.Stone", and "Kanata no Astra" were not criticized anywhere near as bad and had visuals befitting of a new release in 2019 by respectable studios.
5. Fighting off a couple of slimes inside a fantasy world is easy for many anime characters. What definitely is not easy is protecting the world from the Demon Lord's army. Name the one who is not regarded as a Demon King.

Answer: Yukihira Souma

Yukihira is the protagonist of "Food Wars!" and is definitely not a demon lord, though his cooking skills are definitely lord-like. Anos is the reincarnation of the demon lord in "The Misfit of Demon King Academy". Momonga is the skeletal overlord in "Overlord" and Beelzebub III is the current demon lord in the anime "Beelzebub".
6. Watching romance animes can be very heartwarming and wholesome, usually at least. There are exceptions in which this genre is intermingled with other themes like horror and thriller. Which one of these couples comes from an anime with romance, horror, and thriller themes?

Answer: Lucy and Kouta

Lucy and Kouta are from "Elfen Lied" which has the unusual combination of romance, horror, and thriller intertwined together. Sora and Shiro are sister and brother (not related by blood) from the anime "No Game No Life" which has no romance tag. Taichi and Inaba are a couple from "Kokoro Connect" which is certainly not horrific, and Misaki and Usui are a couple from "Kaichou wa Maid-Sama!" which is a very romantic anime but not thriller-like.
7. There are countless exciting and adventurous places in the world of anime, although such realms can't possibly rival the realm of magic in "Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic". One of our protagonists, Alibaba, who was chosen by the magi Aladdin as the king's candidate, was faced with a relentless internal conflict. What was the cause of this?

Answer: Alibaba had a childhood friend named Cassim who was corrupted and wanted war with royalty

Cassim was Alibaba's best friend in the slums they used to live in, but after a series of events and finding out that Alibaba was actually royalty, he grew a grudge against him and wanted to become king as well. Alibaba's prolonged affection for Cassim made it hard for him to make the right choices. Alibaba was doubted by Sinbad at first, but it wasn't the cause of his internal strife.

His mother did indeed end up in the slums, but he lived a great life with her. Morgiana and Alibaba did not have a relationship and Morgiana did not die.
8. Many animes have similarities between them, ranging from the genre to the character traits of individual characters. Choose one of the correct similarities that relates the animes "Chivalry of a Failed Knight", "Asterisk War", and "To Love-RU" season 1.

Answer: The main girls have pink hair

The main girls of each one, Stella Vermillion, Julis-Alexia von Riessfeld, and Lala Satalin Deviluke all have pink hair. They also all love the main character(how surprising). Only "Rakudai" and "Asterisk" have a tournament arc. None of these anime have the Isekai tag and only "To-Love" has demons that look like ordinary humans.
9. What is the name of the anime in which a girl who is extremely proficient in art travels to Japan and attends a co-ed school, despite having attended a girls-only school before and having no contact with boys beforehand?

Answer: The Pet Girl of Sakurasou

The anime is called "The Pet Girl of Sakurasou" and revolves around Sorata, the boy that Mashiro (the proficient art girl) attaches herself to whilst being a complete dandere. A dandere is someone who is often silent and keeps to themselves. They live their school days inside a dorm called Sakurasou and the anime recounts their funny, and sometimes saddening, events in a slice of life fashion. "Anohana" is also a slice of life themed anime, however, it does not fit the summary. "We Never Learn!" does have to do with school, but also doesn't fit the summary. "The Fruit of Grisaia" has girls that previously only attended a girls-only school, but that's it as far as connections to the summary.
10. To end off the quiz, let us get a little more somber. In the movie "No Game No Life: Zero", Riku and Schwi are two physically similar lifeforms from completely different races. They fall in love with each other after Schwi finally learns how the human heart works, despite being a machine. Unfortunately, they both perish after accomplishing the astronomical feat of stopping the ensuing war and acquiring the suniaster for the game god, Tet. They did at least have a formal marriage before their death, but how did they mark their names as proof of this marriage?

Answer: They carved their names into a bluestone

There is no Scroll of Eternity and they did indeed carve their names down on a bluestone as per Couronne Dola's idea. The stone was passed down generations of the Dola family until it eventually made its way into the possession of Stephanie Dola. Stephanie Dola is the granddaughter of the former king of Imanity in "No Game No Life" and coincidentally travels with Sora and Shiro, who are the look-a-likes of Riku and Schwi.
