Carson bought some "wee baby turtles" when he came back to Earth in "The Return, Part 1." Since he's allergic to cats and is away from home too long to be fair to a dog. (He's concerned that they'll die when he suddenly hops back to Atlantis.) Rodney has a cat, which is being looked after by a neighbor girl that he likes.

He appears to have had a dog in his childhood, which ran away and never was found (because his dad refused to buy a license).
