Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Twenty years ago, Jaslyn's parents died by which means?

Answer: Home invasion

Jaslyn, out shopping, finds a display set up for the Aura smart doorbell system and though she initially balks at the price, another customer assures her that it's cheap for the value and peace of mind. She buys it, heads back to her otherwise safe gated community in Mountain View Place, and installs it in her new home. Her husband, Bryce, isn't happy with the purchase; they spent a lot of money for security already. She assures him that her store opens in a week and she can cover it.

Twenty years earlier, while Jaslyn slept in her bed, she was awakened by the sound of a home invader entering her room through the window, coming in to kill her parents.
2. Jaslyn works by creating and selling which of these from home?

Answer: Jewelery

Jaslyn and Bryce settle into their new place with ease and Jaslyn's jewellery business takes off. One day, Bryce jokingly pretends to be a home invader, just to try the Aura device out. Jaslyn, of course, is far from happy with his lack of seriousness. The couple is interrupted when Bryce's phone goes off; he called a department meeting and he has extra work to pull together. He departs for the evening and tells Jaslyn not to wait up.

That evening, while working on some new items, Jaslyn receives a message from the Aura indicating someone is at the door. When she turns on the app, however, no one is there. She unlocks the door and checks outside, but it seems there's nothing there save for raccoons in the trash. She cleans up their mess and heads back inside. At least the Aura is working.
3. Jaslyn and Bryce's neighbour across the road, Juan, has a camera installed where on his house?

Answer: The garage

As Jaslyn brushes her teeth and prepares to go to bed, she gets another alert from her Aura. This time, when she opens the app, someone appears to be at her door-- an old man hunched over staring directly into the device. This man, who knows her by name, asks her repeatedly to open the door. He tells her she doesn't need to be afraid, but upon his further insistence, she calls 911.

Bryce returns home to find the police in his house and that Jaslyn is safe, but shaken. While the police ask questions, their neighbour, Juan, stops by to let them know he installed a camera over his garage a month earlier and he should have footage to provide. When they and the cops investigate, however, they find that no one was there until the police arrived. There's no recording on the Aura either. The police can't do much besides run the man's description through the system.
4. Bryce claims that he did which of the following to rid the house of unwanted animals?

Answer: Lay out poison

Bryce and Jaslyn struggle to sleep the night after the man appears at the door, and Bryce suggests that maybe the police are right that they should just go on with their lives. Jaslyn struggles with this, however, remembering the man with the mask on the night her parents were killed. He makes her admit it had to be a dream.

The next week, the two of them talk about the app when Jaslyn compulsively checks her phone. She jokes that perhaps the raccoon could come back, but Bryce doubts it, especially since he put out poison to rid the neighbourhood of the pest. Jaslyn concern towards this only goes so far when her app actually does go off, showing that the old man is back at their door. When Bryce realizes the man is there to see Jaslyn, he grabs a fire poker and brings it with him to the front of the house. Jaslyn is, at the last moment, able to convince him not to open the door. Instead, they call Juan and ask him to check the security camera...and he doesn't see anything.
5. Jaslyn finds numerous Aura 'prank' videos online.

Answer: True

While Jaslyn and Bryce argue over whether or not to call the police, neither notices that the man at their front door has disappeared from the camera feed of the Aura app. Bryce, compelled, goes out to the front porch to check for the man only to find that no one is there. He has no choice but to believe that someone is hacking into their app, going so far as to ignore the fact that on the man's first visit, Jaslyn saw the doorknob turning. According to Bryce, it probably happens all the time.

The next day, Jaslyn watches Aura prank videos online and she tells Bryce that the posters of the videos often claim that the offenders vanished when they went to the door. That said, they always seemed to look like other people. Thinking on this, Jaslyn believes that the man at their door looks an awful lot like someone she once knew.
6. Mr. Hendrix occupied which position at Jaslyn's old high school?

Answer: Janitor

Recalling the janitor at her old high school, Mr. Hendrix, Jaslyn notes the man kept to himself a lot of the time. She used to be kind to Mr. Hendrix, often to make her friends laugh, but he took her comments seriously and developed somewhat of an obsession with her. At some point he vanished from the school and was institutionalized, never to be seen again by her or her friends... until he appeared on the Aura. She's sure it's him.

That evening, Jaslyn keeps checking the Aura app, but the real shock comes when she opens her laptop and sees Mr. Hendrix reflected in the screen, only vanishing when she turns around.

Jaslyn takes it upon herself to travel into the country to speak to Mr. Hendrix's sister at her home. She pretends to be organizing an alumni meeting for former workers at her high school, but there's no lead to be had there. He lived at the house with his sister when he was let go from the high school, but he vanished months earlier.
7. Mr. Hendrix, as it is determined, only wanted into Jaslyn and Bryce's house for which of these?

Answer: To issue an apology

Armed with a photo of Mr. Hendrix, Jaslyn is justified that her fears are correct-- that the former janitor is, in fact, the one appearing on the Aura. Bryce lets her know, while she returns home, that he'll ensure they're well-protected, but also that he has to work late and not to wait up. All seems well until she gets back into the house and locks the door only to get a notification that someone is on the other side. Sure enough, Mr. Hendrix has returned to beg her to see him once more. She asks what he wants and he says he simply wants to see her again-- that's all. Going against her fears, she opens the door, finally doing what he asked...only to find the front porch empty once again.

But when Jaslyn turns around she finds that Mr. Hendrix has entered her home. Though she's terrified by his presence, he apologizes to her-- not for entering and scaring her, but for what he did to her in high school. He convinced himself that he loved her and he didn't know how to deal with that. He didn't want to scare her.

Jaslyn, realizing his true motive, apologizes in kind. As the two forgive each other, Mr. Hendrix bursts in a cloud of dust before Jaslyn's very eyes.

In the coming days, Jaslyn watches the news and discovers that Mr. Hendrix's body washed up in a nearby river. He'd been considered a missing person for the past two months.
8. The second visitor to appear on the Aura is Mary Jeane Burkett, who was last seen alive at which of these locations?

Answer: The park

Despite Mr. Hendrix seemingly being put to rest, the Aura once again activates unexpectedly, this time when Bryce returns home from work. This time, it shows a young woman on the other side of the door, unsure of how she arrived at their house since she was last in the park. Bryce goes off on this visitor, angrily suggesting she leave them alone. He insists that it's just another prank, but Jaslyn is more skeptical considering the circumstances. When Jaslyn lets her husband know that the new visitor is gone, he rips the Aura off the door altogether and tosses it into the trash.

On a hunch, Jaslyn goes to the park looking for answers and she finds a memorial bench near the parking lot. Searching the name of the deceased on her phone, she finds that the new visitor is Mary Jeane Burkett, the victim of a hit and run back in 2002.
9. How did Mary Jeane know Bryce?

Answer: They were engaged

When Jaslyn gets back home, she confronts Bryce about Mary Jeane Burkett since, as she never knew the woman, she must have arrived looking for Bryce. He tries to be evasive, but Jaslyn insists that these Aura cameras, at least based on online research, seem to operate with quantum entanglement, somehow managing to capture the images of spirits from beyond the realm of the living. Bryce laughs this off, but Jaslyn continues to pry, even indicating that she put the Aura back on the door. This time, when the app notification goes off, it's at the most opportune time in their argument.

Bryce has no choice but to tell the truth: Mary Jeane was his fiancee twenty years ago. They were at the park the night Bryce broke it off with her. He drove off, but he never saw her again.

Jaslyn opens the door willingly.
10. Who is killed by Mary Jeane when she's let into the house?

Answer: Bryce

When Mary Jeane's ghost appears in Jaslyn and Bryce's house, she comes bearing a baby in her arms and the true story spills forth. On the night Bryce broke it off with Mary Jeane, he found out she was pregnant and couldn't let that happen. Mary Jeane tried to escape Bryce's grip and she stumbled directly into the path of an oncoming truck which, subsequently, drove off into the night. The collision didn't kill her though-- that was Bryce. When he saw she didn't die he walked over to her and broke her neck.

Once his story is told, Bryce grabs the fire poker from the mantle and begins to swing at Jaslyn. He's stopped, however, by an otherworldly force before he and his victim vanish in a cloud of dust.

Three months later, Jaslyn moves into a new apartment and resumes her life. As her landlord finishes repairs, he lets her know that he's installed a new Aura on her door. As it connects, it indicates motion almost immediately and when she checks the app, it appears that Bryce has already found her.
