Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The girls originally believe that if Bloody Mary is summoned, she reveals which of these to you?

Answer: Your future

Lena tells her friends about the legend of Bloody Mary; when you say her name three times in a mirror she'll appear and stare into the depths of your soul. If she doesn't like what she sees, she'll remove your eyes, but if she doesn't find a reason to, then she could be of great assistance since she can see into the future.

The girls muse on how they can use Mary to meet guys, but there's a bit of skepticism from Bianca. It's why Lena lights a candle and, to prove Mary is real, nearly says her name three times. Bianca, however, stops their little ritual. Elise has to tell her sister to be less afraid before the girls split off to find their own mirrors and take solo attempts at contacting the ghost. That way, they can each keep their futures secret.
2. Bianca wants to go to what university?

Answer: Yale

As the girls turn out the lights and light a candle, they all say Bloody Mary's name three times in their mirrors and, sure enough, the spirit appears before each of them, insisting that if they listen to what she asks them to do then she will reward them. The girls, terrified, pull themselves away only to find Maggie being killed in the bathroom by Mary's clawed fingers. When they turn on the lights, however, it appears to be nothing but a hallucination. Maggie claims that she wasn't harmed, but she did see Bloody Mary.

The girls reveal the cost of the futures they want: Bianca can get a full ride to Yale, but not without personal abuse; Lena can be cheer captain, but only if she drops a girl from the top of the pyramid; Maggie can be with the boyfriend she wants, but she needs to steal his current girlfriend's nudes and put them on the internet; Elise can be rich, but at a cost.

The girls are scared. Bianca knows that Bloody Mary is coming for them, but they have no choice besides living their lives. Bianca realizes, that night, how much she really wants what Mary promised. Neither of the girls see Bloody Mary in a reflection, watching them go to sleep.
3. Some of the girls see Mary's reflection in class. What are they learning about?

Answer: Reflections

The girls end up at school the day after their Bloody Mary visits, but all of them appear to have barely slept. While Lena forgets that she has cheer practice, she, Elise and Maggie, by sheer coincidence, start a physics unit on reflections. During their class, their teacher flips a whiteboard around to show a massive mirror which, to them, starts to crack. The apparition of Bloody Mary appears before them and reminds each that they have a pact with her that they must deliver on.

Lena tells the other girls that they need to listen to Mary because following through with her requests is better than being killed. Many years ago, her mother wasn't invited to a slumber party, but she found out that all the other girls who went either died or went to a psych ward because of the Bloody Mary legend. Elise reassures her sister that she'll be fine; they won't die.
4. Elise, looking into the legend of Bloody Mary, discovers urban myths tracking back to which U.S. historical connection?

Answer: The Underground Railroad

Bianca stresses as she speaks to her teacher about her Yale admissions essay. While he urges her to express her desperation more clearly, she complains that despite her troubles, she's a straight-A student and should not be having this much trouble. As he touches her hand, she hears the sound of a mirror on the wall, cracking, and turns to find a reflection depicting her teacher hanging by his neck, a grisly image of the future. Worriedly, she leaves, intending to start a new draft.

Elise studies up on Bloody Mary on her computer, coming across the legend of Margaret Worth, a slave catcher and Underground Railroad murderer.

Maggie, meanwhile, chats with her ex-boyfriend in the school halls before his new girlfriend arrives. In her locker mirror, she sees an image of the two of them kissing, the new girlfriend bloodied by Mary's claw nails.

Lena heads to cheer practice and has her own, new apparition, seeing one of her cheer team members with a broken neck in the reflection. Bianca tells her to give Elise more time; she'll find answers.
5. Does Lena injure her cheer partner on Mary's request?

Answer: No

Elise and Bianca arrive to find Lena at cheer practice with the intent to hurt Anna, the top member of her cheer pyramid. As Lena grabs tight and her fellow cheerleader launches into the air, she grabs her, preventing her injury, much to the other girls' surprise and relief. She runs out of the gymnasium as Elise follows behind.

That night, Elise and Bianca discuss the former's findings and both admit that while neither of them have ever gotten to take the easy way out, it would be easier to give in. Elise heads to work and tells her sister to go to bed early if she can. Unfortunately, she wakes up in the middle of the night to find that Mary has removed the sheet from her mirror. As Mary taps at the glass, she tells Bianca that she has until midnight the following evening to finish her task.

Elise returns home to find Bianca sitting outside, and the two of them are met by Maggie who gives them the awful news-- Lena is dead, her parents having found her in her bathtub, her eyes gouged out. That night, before the three of them go to bed, they shatter their mirrors.
6. Margaret Worth was killed with which of these unique weapons?

Answer: African dagger

Heading to the Missouri Historical Association to investigate an exhibit about the Underground Railroad, Elise asks a curator about Margaret Worth. It's there that she learns about the Reverse Underground Railroad. Margaret Worth would have escaped slaves arrive to her house, lured in by a woman under her employ, and they would be locked into her cellar under the guise of being safely hidden away.

The would torture many over the years and most would believe her to be a witch, but one day her body would be found, stabbed to death; her killer would never be found, but the murder weapon, an African-designed dagger, would be.
7. Does Maggie send out the sex tape per Mary's request for her?

Answer: No

Bianca finds Maggie in class stressing over the last remaining time before she needs to finish Mary's request. As she prepares to post a sex tape of River's current girlfriend with another man, Bianca asks her how she could cope with herself if that girl committed suicide because of what she did. Maggie doesn't even care anymore, however; she just doesn't want to end up like Lena. She doesn't end up sending it, however, letting her conscience win out.

Elise, meanwhile, picks up Bianca and the two head out into the country to visit Margaret Worth's property. Before they go, however, they return to the museum and Elise manages to steal the African dagger. They stop by Maggie's house to bring her along, but when they arrive at her house, they discover that she, too, has died. They find her body in her bed.
8. For her request, Elise was told to bring Mary the blood of how many innocent people?

Answer: Three

Elise and Bianca head onward together knowing that no one else can help them, and when they arrive at Margaret Worth's house the commit to their plan of killing Mary at her source. The pair park their car and proceed on foot, arriving at their destination after nightfall, realizing they've made it when they find mirrors propped up in the trees in the forest. At the house, they light a candle and gaze into a full-length mirror, calling upon Mary, and when she appears, she asks Elise if she's brought everything.

On the night of the party, when Elise first saw Mary, she was told that she wanted safety, security, and power. She could have it all, but only if she brought a few simple things-- the dagger and the blood of three innocents.
9. Which of the two sisters is the last to survive the events of the episode?

Answer: Bianca

The truth is revealed; Elise killed Lena and Maggie because they were innocents, and she took their blood for the request, but she still has one more innocent to kill to get what Mary promises, and that's why she brought Bianca to the house. Bianca flees into the woods while Elise explains herself-- she would get money and fame and power and wouldn't need to fight for herself anymore. All she needed to do was set Mary free.

Elise nearly gets the upper hand when she knocks her sister unconscious and brings her back to the house, but Bianca is able to overpower her and grab the dagger, plunging it into her eye.
10. Is Mary freed from her mirror prison in the end?

Answer: Yes

Mary explains to Bianca that she doesn't kill people, she only reveals the truth of what's deep within peoples' souls. Bianca never did what Mary said, but Elise did. And Mary was far from innocent. In her time beneath Margaret Worth's house, she was finally brought before the slave catchers. In her last moments alive she gazed into a mirror and called upon the powers of Mami Wata to obtain her justice. Her powers killed the slave catchers and Margaret, but she also sullied her soul by killing a girl who was misled by them. Because of this, Mami Wata placed her into her reflective prison to atone as she was not fit to meet her ancestors with such guilt. Now, all she sees is truth.

Mary tells Bianca that she sees innocence in her, but Bianca believes she has nothing. Providing the last of the innocent blood Mary needs, she makes her offering and frees her from the mirror, but she's shocked to find herself not just bringing Mary forth, but swapping places with her.

Mary reminds her that truth may not always be brutal, but she will find that out as the new Bloody Mary, becoming the arbiter for those who call upon her. As Bianca hears the whispers of those calling upon Bloody Mary, she makes her first appearance unto one who dares test their luck.
