Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the beginning of the episode, we see Daria studying in the library. The roof later falls in, even though there was money budgeted for a new roof. What did Ms Li squander the money on instead?

Answer: A polygraph machine

Although the old disco ball was stolen, this is not what Ms Li used the money to buy. A polygraph machine was her item of choice. She told Mrs. Bennett she won it in a raffle.
2. When Mr O'Neill asks the class why they think Leo Tolstoy made 'War and Peace' so darned unpleasant, what is Daria's response?

Answer: 'So no-one would pester him to do a sequel'

While Mr O'Neill thinks this over, they are interrupted by Ms Li, who has come to announce the medieval fair. She goes on to say that all volunteers are welcome, but those who do not volunteer must voluntarily purchase a ticket for $10, or voluntarily face suspension. Voluntarily, of course.
3. Quinn decides to audition for the part of Emily in 'The Canterbury Tales'. Which of the following students choose not to try out for parts in the production?

Answer: Jodie

Sandi, being vindictive and manipulative, chooses to audition for the same part as Quinn, but when she doesn't get the part of Emily (and Quinn does), she focuses her energy on trying to make Quinn mess up her lines.
4. In each episode of Daria, there is also an episode of 'Sick Sad World' being advertised. What is the name of the show mentioned on this episode?

Answer: Umbilical cord sculpture

'Meet the avant-garde obstetrician who's turned his cast-offs into big-ticket artwork! Umbilical cord sculpture, next, on Sick Sad World!' Quinn turns off the television after this announcement so that she can talk to Jake about her part in the play. He then proceeds to make her extremely nervous by recounting his experience playing Guildenstern in college.
5. Which of the following lines is not mentioned throughout this episode (regarding Quinn's lines in the play or otherwise)?

Answer: May I offer (Quinn) a dainty garland for your vocal cords?

The line to be said by Quinn is in fact 'I will make a dainty garland for my head and sing! La! La la!' Upon saying these lines in the play later on in the episode, she is laughed off the stage as lines from 'The Pardoner's Tale' are read, instead of those for the part of Palamon.
6. While at the medieval fair, both Mack and Jodie are involved in the proceedings. Jodie is dressed as a duchess at the information stand and Mack is dressed as a dragon.

Answer: True

Charles Ruttheimer III is also a wandering minstrel. It was Ms. Barch's idea to make Mack a dragon, which reflects on her man-hating tendencies.
7. Sandi and Daria's mothers are playing against each other in a round of archery. While they are firing the arrows, they are also having a discussion about their children, but what aspect of their children are they actually talking about?

Answer: The roundness of their heads

Everyone thought that Sandi's mother had had a caesarean, because Sandi's head was so round and smooth. Quinn's birth was only two hours long, though, so her head was quite round. Sandi's mother then comments on how it can be risky for women over 35 (referring to Helen) to give birth.
8. Stacey spends most of her time in this episode crying. Whether talking to Tiffany and Sandi at the cake stand, or stuck on the Ferris wheel with Jane and Daria, she is upset about the same thing. What, though?

Answer: Brett Strand didn't call her back

Daria and Jane aren't the only people who don't want to listen. When Stacey tries to tell Sandi and Tiffany about the date when they are stood at the cake stall, Sandi's attention is quickly drawn away from Stacey. She'd rather talk about how it is difficult to walk in long skirts.
9. Palamon (Kevin) does not show up, as Brittany decides to keep him away from the fair. She is afraid Quinn is going to steal him from her. Who is chosen by Mr O'Neill to play Palamon in his place?

Answer: Jeffy

A jealous Joey and Jamie tricked him into reading the lines for the Pardoner. Halfway into a line about the perversion of Lot, he is stopped by an angry Quinn. Then comes the snickering.
10. Jane and Daria did not have a large part in this episode, but when Jodie passes her responsibilities onto them, they find themselves drawing a crowd with the information they are offering. Which of these things did Daria and Jane not talk about?

Answer: King John

'And Anne Boleyn was no prize either. She has six fingers on her left hand, a massive mole on her neck, and don't even ask what was going on below there.' Daria and Jane's further commentaries on how Robin Hood was King Edward II's 'special friend', and how the oxcarts would roll through the streets carrying bodies during the plague, drew even bigger crowds.
