Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the beginning of the episode, we see the Morgendorffer family visiting their friends, Susan and Dunn. Their three-year-old daughter Ramona is also present. Shortly after this encounter, though, Helen and Jake decide to enrol Daria and Quinn in an 'SAT prep' class. What happened at Susan and Dunn's house to make Daria and Quinn's parents take this step for their children?

Answer: Ramona asks Helen to read her an 'SAT prep' book. Susan then explains that it's never too early to prepare your children for college.

Susan explains that it's so hard to get into a good college that they want Ramona to be as prepared as possible, and so they have given her a "My First SAT Prep" book. Helen and Jake realise that they haven't even given their daughters' college places a thought, and so they sign Daria and Quinn up for a preparation class.
2. In the preparation class, the tutor claims that if you are given a multiple choice question, the chances are that you can eliminate two of the potential answers straight away. While Jane wants to get away so that she can watch television, Brittany feels that she has a very pertinent question. What does Brittany ask?

Answer: "Does that work with true/false?"

A typical question from Brittany, who wants to know if you can immediately eliminate two choices when there are only two choices to begin with. This question is met with distain from the tutor.
3. In the class, the students are given questionnaires to assess what course they would be best suited to in college, and what college they would be best to go to. Of course, not quite getting the point of the questionnaire, Kevin asks Daria for help with question one. What is the question, and what does Daria tell him to put?

Answer: Question: Who are you really? - Answer: Crossdresser.

The questionnaire is published by the "Push Comes to Love" organisation, who help students decide what college they want to go to. We later hear about this company again, as Manatee college contact Quinn and tell her she has been accepted because of her questionnaire's answers.
4. Because of the dullness of the speeches being given, many of the students end up lost in worlds of their own. Which of the following characters does not have a college-based daydream?

Answer: Jane

Jane's daydream is about spending the money that her parents had put away for college to buy an art studio in New York. Her daydream depicts her stood in a large loft, being spoken to by an affluent member of the art scene in the city.
5. Although Daria and Quinn were under the impression that they chose the college that they wanted to see, Helen and Jake were quick to choose Middleton College on their daughter's behalf. As the family arrives at Middleton, they are met by their tour guide Heather. While Helen and Jake go to examine Jake's old dorm room, Quinn insists that the three girls go and see the sorority houses. One flippant comment leads to another, and which course does Daria say that Quinn wants to study?

Answer: Group Psychology

Quinn is mistaken for a Theta sorority pledge and soon finds herself being handed a toothbrush and being told to clean the steps of the sorority house. As Heather says, "She's God's problem now", and lighting up a cigarette, she leads Daria to her dorm room to talk to her friends.
6. While Quinn, Daria, and Heather are looking round the sorority houses, Jake and Helen are up in Jake's dorm room, trying to spark up a conversation with the new residents. Helen soon finds a student at the computer and assumes he is doing his schoolwork. What is he actually doing?

Answer: Writing an erotic letter to a female inmate.

At least he thinks she's female. Jake and Helen find Jake's dorm room as Jake has water bombs and books thrown at him, and looks up to find that they have indeed come from his old dorm room. Helen then goes into detail of how Jake would leer and catcall at her from this window as she was walking through the Quad.
7. In Heather's room, we see Daria and two of Heather's friend sat on and around a sofa, with the television on mute. On the television in an episode of 'Sick Sad World', with the image of a dog sat behind the wheel of a car. What is the name of this episode of 'Sick Sad World'?

Answer: 'Real Life Were Wolves'

When we see Heather's apartment, it has light blue walls and a beige sofa, on which Heather and Daria are sat. Two of Heather's friends are sat on the floor looking at the television while Heather and Daria talk about college, yet the sound is down, so one would assume they were looking at the images.
8. While in Heather's dorm room, Daria sees Heather receive her Psychology term paper from a courier. It turns out that someone wrote this perm paper for her, and although she spent $50 on it, the first paragraph doesn't even make sense. This gives Daria her first idea. Which of the following term papers does Daria not turn her hand to writing for money?

Answer: "The History of In Vitro"

After Daria has offered to fix Heather's term paper for only ten dollars, she quickly gets into the business of writing papers for other students. As Heather says, "(Daria) is good with the brain-dead". Sadly, Helen does not let Daria keep the money, although Jake does agree that Daria's choice not to take cheques from college students is very astute.
9. Meanwhile, Jake is in the Bursar's office trying to settle the financial situation. He soon finds out, though, that he can only afford to send one of the girls to Middleton College. The Bursar, however, comes up with a slightly dubious solution. He tells Jake to get a loan from a family in the area, but what is the main occupation of the loan sharks?

Answer: Candy store owners

As the Bursar says, "They sell candy. And give loans. And haul trash." Jake does not buy into this, and we later see him running over to Helen to tell her that they cannot afford to send both girls to college. He then suggests that they send Quinn to beauty school, but Helen is more preoccupied with the whereabouts of the girls than what they will be doing at college.
10. Alone on the campus, Helen decides that she will make an appeal to find Quinn and Daria using a flyer. As soon as she has put it up, however, the flyer is covered by an advertisement for the Middleton Lesbian Chorus. Helen is then approached by a young fraternity member, asking for her underwear. Helen thinks that it is a prank, but why does he really want Helen's underwear?

Answer: To fly from a flag pole - her underwear should be large enough to be seen from the quad.

Helen, of course, reacts badly, and chases the young man away angrily. We see this student delivering money to the Morgendorffer's house later in the episode, as Daria has written a paper for him and he is giving payment.
11. Quinn being Quinn, she soon finds herself in the middle of a huge fraternity party. She soon has men eating out of the palm of her hand, playing number games with three of the fraternity brothers. When Heather and Daria turn up at the party, though, they find that Quinn has been given an extremely important position within the party. Which position did the fraternity brothers give Quinn?

Answer: Keg queen

Even though she is drastically under age, the fraternity brothers make Quinn the keg queen, meaning that she gets to drive the kegs to and from the distributors. But as Daria is quick to point out, "She (Quinn) doesn't even have a learner's permit."
12. After visiting their respective colleges, the group reconvene at the preparation class and talk about their experiences. While Mac learned about the first string exemption rule and Brittany found her way into a poetry circle, Kevin mad a much more turbulent time. What actually happened to him at college?

Answer: His fraternity brothers stripped him, covered him in molasses, and left him in a field.

Kevin bad-mouths Brittany's time at college, and as such, acquires the nickname "naked boy", due to his antics. He is, however, rather impressed with Quinn's position as "keg queen", but Quinn refuses his request for an autograph, and also calls him by his newly acquired moniker. Mac also claims that if you get onto the first string team, you never have to take any tests.

He says he's looking forward to a great education.
13. Daria and Jane are seen walking back to Daria's house after leaving the preparation class for the last time. Daria tells Jane about the money she has been making from writing papers, and the two part ways as Daria goes up her driveway. Inside the house, her parents and Quinn are sat in the living room, celebrating Quinn's acceptance to Manatee College. But what is special about this college which means that Quinn is so perfectly suited?

Answer: It offers no classes

Manatee college also offers beachfront accommodation for the mere price of $10,000 per semester, which according to Quinn, is better than they all thought. Jake soon puts the kibosh on Quinn's hopes, however.
14. After the course has finished and everyone has left, we see Daria and Jane in the pizza house. After eating, Daria asks Jane if she can cover the tab, but Jane is confused, as she thinks Daria has plenty of money from writing the papers. Daria explains that Helen wouldn't let her keep the money, because she says it is "wrong to encourage cheaters and profit from them." What did Daria ask in return?

Answer: If she was going to give up being a lawyer.

And according to Daria, "(Daria) is sure that one day, (she and Helen) may once again be on speaking terms". While at the pizza house, Jane and Daria reminisce about their time at the colleges of their choice, and begin to question whether these really are the best days of their lives.
15. While at the pizza house, Daria and Jane see Quinn and the tutor from the preparation class out on a date, talking about the "making out scholarship" the tutor was offering. Daria had earlier denied the existence of a making-out scholarship, but does Quinn finally accept that Daria was correct?

Answer: Yes

And so we have reached the end of this quiz on the episode "College Bored". In the final scene, we see Quinn realising that Daria was right about the so-called "making out scholarship", and pouring her drink all over the tutor. To Daria and Jane, this is one of those moments that means these really could be the best of their lives. "You've got to admit, there are some pretty choice moments", spouts Daria.
