Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When dueling Mako Tsunami, Yugi played a card earlier in the duel. Mako then used Yugi's card because it pulled the tide of the water. What object and type of card did Yugi attack?

Answer: The Moon - Magic/Equip

Earlier in the duel, Yugi equips the moon card to his Silver Fang to increase his attack. However, when the Silver Fang was destroyed, the moon card stayed on the field. This rule not only violates regular equip spells rules, but also Combat Step rules, as he attacked a magic card instead of another monster on the field.
2. When dueling Mai, Joey plays Tiger Axe, a fairly powerful monster of 1300 attack. Though both Tiger Axe and Harpy's Lady received a field power boost to make them equal in strength (1690) why did the Harpy's Lady destroy Tiger Axe without taking any damage herself?

Answer: Land Monsters have a disadvantage to Flying Monsters

While Mai is still tricking Joey with the ESP game, Yugi says it multiple times. Joey, however, isn't thinking clearly and still attacks with Tiger Axe.
3. During Yugi's duel with "Kaiba" he destroys a Blue-Eyes White Dragon with a combo attack of Dark Magician and Spellbinding Circle. How is the other BEWD destroyed?

Answer: Kaiba's computer virus

During the duel, Kaiba breaks into his own lab and searches for any duel using a Blue-Eyes White Dragon. He sees that the competitor is none other than Yugi and decides that he won't let an imposter defeat Yugi using his deck. He uploads a virus that lowers the attack points of the second Blue-Eyes.
4. A duelist does not need a fusion monster in order to summon it, so long as he has the fusion materials and a polymerization card. Why is this evident?

Answer: Joey summoned B. Skull Dragon without OWNING a Summoned Skull

If Joey doesn't own both cards required for a fusion, he really has no reason to own the fusion card. So playing it in a duel would be illegal.
5. Which of these is not a fusion made at Duelist Kingdom?

Answer: Mammoth Graveyard + Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon

In Yugi's duel with Kaiba to gain entry to the castle, Kaiba fuses his three dragons to form the ultimate dragon. While essentially Yugi fuses Mammoth Graveyard to the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, Yugi actually fuses the cards Mammoth Graveyard and Arrow of Light.

However, those of you that picked this answer because it's the only one that's not an actual fusion, please note that these two monsters WERE fused.
6. Yellow Luster Shield raises defense considerably. When Yugi faces Panic, what card combo does he use to break through the shield?

Answer: Gaia, the Dragon Champion + Catapult Turtle

The way this duel ended was completely against all rules of the game. The Yellow Luster Shield made the defense of Panic's nearly impenetrable. The Swords of Revealing Light by Yugi made the creatures on Panic's side unable to move. So using Catapult Turtle's effect (though, not the true effect), Yugi launched Gaia and broke the floatation ring on the Castle.

When the Swords of Revealing Light went away, the castle fell, crushing Panic's creatures and his life points.
7. Joey has played fusion materials before, but never fused them (via polymerization OR any other method) to make which of these, one of his favorite cards?

Answer: Flame Swordsman

Red-Eyes Black Dragon is not a fusion monster.

As for B. Skull Dragon, Joey never played Summoned Skull and he HAS fused them anyway.

Thousand Dragon's fusion is through the effect of Time Wizard.

Joey always seems to play, directly from his hand, the Flame Swordsman, a combo of Masaki, the Legendary Swordsman and Flame Manipulator, both cards present in his deck.
8. Though not "against the rules," what made Kaiba's duel with Joey with the new technology odd?

Answer: Neither had more than one monster out at a time

It's not against the rules to run a game with one monster at a time, though it is a good strategy to continuously keep your defenses up with more summons. If the only cards in Kaiba's hand were spells and traps, it would have been beneficial for him to play them at least.
9. Not during Duelist Kingdom, a tournament took place. Kaiba was a guest to the event in which Pegasus broke the rules by getting assistance from a child in the audience. Who was his opponent?

Answer: Bandit Keith

He broke the rules, though he left explicit instructions for the child. In one turn, he wiped out Keith's life-points. It's definitely against the rules to read someone's mind during a duel.

And stealing souls... Pegasus has a problem...
10. During Joey's duel with Mai he remembered the card that would help him win the duel in one turn. As he was drawing, we can see Yugi's face look very serious, probably changing the card to what Effect Monster, leading to his victory in the duel without the gamble required to use the card?

Answer: Time Wizard - without flipping a coin

The gamble in an actual game is to flip a coin when activating Time Wizard's effect. In the duel, it's just a "Time Roulette," however he activated Time Wizard's ability without the gamble.
