Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Homecoming" - Who do we learn is pregnant in this episode?

Answer: Dr. Chen

Ming-Na, the actress who plays Dr. Chen, was actually pregnant during this time, so it made sense that her character would go through a pregnancy as well.

We find out that Dr. Corday is pregnant later in the season, in "Rescue Me."

Dr. Weaver becomes pregnant during season 10.

Up through the end of season 11, Abby has never been pregnant on screen, but we have learned (later in this season, during "Where the Heart Is") that she was at one time, but had an abortion.
2. "Sand and Water" - What is the name of the woman who gives birth to the very premature baby in this episode?

Answer: Regina

Regina Morgan gave birth to a 22-week old baby boy, who, despite surviving for almost 9 hours (an almost-miracle for a baby that premature), died at the end of the episode.

Shirley is a nurse in the OR.

Maureen was the woman from the Financial Services department of the hospital who told Dr. Benton that they couldn't admit Mr. Fletcher.

Glenda was the woman who had a stroke, and whose partner didn't have the power of attorney to overrule her brother to take Glenda off life support.
3. "Mars Attacks" - Which did NOT occur in this episode?

Answer: Dr. Corday found out she was pregnant

Elizabeth finds out she is pregnant in "Rescue Me."

The causeway collapse brought many oddly-dressed patients to the ER, where more chaos than normal ensued because most of the hospital's surgeons were at a conference. Amidst all the chaos, Dr. Carter had his first day back at Country General since his visit to rehab.
4. "Benton Backwards" - Where does Dr. Benton consider taking a job in this episode?

Answer: Philadelphia

Dr. Benton was fired by Dr. Romano in the previous episode, "Mars Attacks" for his actions concerning a patient named Mr. Fletcher. When Dr. Benton attempts to get a job at other hospitals in Chicago, he finds out that Dr, Romano has been badmouthing him to other hospitals. Luckily, Dr. Corday is able to find him a job in Philadelphia, although he ends up staying in Chicago and taking a 'per diem' job at County in order to keep partial custody of his son, Reese.
5. "Flight of Fancy" - Dr. Greene is forced to go on a flight to Indiana to get a heart-transplant patient. Who runs the ER in his absence?

Answer: Dr. Benton

Dr. Weaver has a day off in this episode, and Dr. Kovac can not be found by the staff, so Dr. Romano orders Dr. Benton to run the ER until one of the other doctors can be there. When Dr. Benton argues that general ER care is not within his duties as a surgeon, Dr. Romano replies that his new 'per diem' job means "per my [Romano's] discretion."
6. "The Visit" - What does NOT happen in this episode?

Answer: Dr. Weaver goes on a 'date' with Dr. Legaspi

Dr. Weaver and Dr. Legaspi's 'date' comes in the next episode, "Rescue Me."

Oscar winner Sally Field makes her first of six appearances this season in this episode as Abby's mother, Maggie Wyczenski.

Dr. Benton's nephew, Jesse, is brought into the ER with a gunshot wound and eventually dies, devastating both Dr. Benton and his sister, Jesse's mother.

Dr. Chen finally confronts the father of her baby on screen, who viewers recognize as Frank Bacon, an ICU nurse who made his first appearance in season 6, in "Under Control." He is played by Morris Chestnut, also seen in the movies "GI Jane," "Like Mike" and "Ladder 49."
7. "Rescue Me" - What discovery is NOT made in this episode?

Answer: Carter discovers Abby was once an alcoholic

Dr. Carter discovered that Abby was once an alcoholic when he saw her at his AA meeting in "Sand and Water." All of the other discoveries happened in this episode.

Dr. Corday got sick during a trauma, and later found out from Dr. Chen that she was pregnant.

Dr. Greene was treating a patient and found himself unable to speak, and found out after a CAT scan that he had a tumor in his brain.

Dr. Chen's mother comes to the hospital to invite Dr. Chen to Thanksgiving dinner, and finds out that her daughter is pregnant, first from Abby's mother, and then confirms it when she sees Dr. Chen.
8. "The Dance We Do" - Which of these doctors actually DOES appear in this episode?

Answer: Dr. Corday

In this episode, Dr. Corday goes through a deposition in the case involving a former patient, Mr. Patterson.

The absences of Dr. Weaver, Dr. Chen and Dr. Romano from this episode are not explained.
9. "The Greatest of Gifts" - What major event does NOT happen in this episode?

Answer: Dr. Greene has an operation to remove his brain tumor

Dr. Greene's operation takes place in the next episode, "Piece of Mind," while all of the other events take place in this episode.

Dr. Chen gives birth to a baby boy, and though she has second thoughts about giving him up for adoption, she eventually sticks to her decision.

Dr. Carter is called back to the hospital just after finishing a long shift to be Dr. Chen's Lamaze coach, and later, when called down to the ER to help with a trauma, he gets desperate and takes two Vicodin pills from a patient's bottle, but immediately throws them up.

Dr. Legaspi kisses Dr. Weaver to try to show her that the two of them just being friends will not work out.
10. "Piece of Mind" - Who does NOT guest star in this episode?

Answer: Sally Field

Although appearing both earlier and later in the season (in "The Visit," "Rescue Me," "The Dance We Do," "Sailing Away," "Fear of Commitment," and "Where the Heart Is") Sally Field does not make an appearance in this episode.

Sam Anderson reprises his recurring role as cardiologist Dr. Kayson.

Jim Belushi (seen on "According to Jim") and Jared Padalecki (seen on "Gilmore Girls") guest star as a father and son involved in a car accident that brings them to the ER on New Year's Eve.
