Laraine was one of the original members of the Los Angeles comedy troupe The Groundlings. Many "SNL" and other comedy stars, including Phil Hartman, Will Ferrell, Jon Lovitz, Maya Rudolph, and Julia Sweeney, were members of The Groundlings.

Chevy Chase was the only original NRFPTP who had a one year contract and he left after the first season. Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi left after the 78-79 season in part to film "The Blues Brothers".
