Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The fight promoter, Jed Rucker, was responsible for destroying Mark Howorth's career in mixed martial arts (MMA) fighting. The team's goal was to con Rucker out of some money so that the Howorths could be compensated for their loss. In order to get Rucker on the hook, Nate needed to introduce himself and get under his skin; where did they decide to have Nate's introductory meeting?

Answer: golf outing

While Nate and Eliot were seen in Rucker's gym shortly after the golf match, they were originally introduced during the golf outing. Hardison had Nate use specially designed golf balls intended to improve Nate's game and destroy any chance of Rucker winning the outing.
2. Eliot explained to Sophie that there were three phases to a MMA fight. Which of the following was NOT one of the phases he mentioned?

Answer: kickboxing

Eliot explained that MMA fighters are some of the best trained and conditioned athletes available, and he also said that MMA fighting was all about precision, technique, and skill. Parker and Hardison demonstrated MMA fighting to Sophie; Parker was the dominating aggressor who punched, grappled, and partially suffocated Hardison in a choke hold throughout the course of the demo.
3. Sophie played the role of Debbie Dryland, a television executive seeking fighters for a MMA program for her network. She also said that she was in Nebraska to promote an event and when she met with Rucker, he asked her what event she was promoting. The team had not planned for this question and were caught off guard; which of the following did she say she was promoting?

Answer: pop concert

In order for them to infiltrate the Triana concert, Nate stranded the real producer's limo in the middle of the country while Hardison assumed his role in the production trailer. Rucker was at the Triana show as well and it was the perfect time for Sophie to reel him in on buying into their fake MMA tv production deal.
4. Throughout the episode Sophie was never able to find food that she was familiar with and/or enjoyed eating. What two foods gave her the most problems while in Nebraska?

Answer: pork rinds and chicken fried steak

When confronted with the reality of chicken fried steak Sophie called the hotel's front desk and complained, saying that "meat should never be used as an adjective." Later on she questioned Parker on how one could "peel a pig," presumably to create pork rinds.

However, by the end of the episode she was shown enjoying a snack of pork rinds which, in England, are referred to as pork scratchings.
5. When Hardison and Parker were walking around at the show, Hardison was swarmed by a group of teenage girls asking for his autograph. He told them that, for the last time, he was not ____________. Who did they think he was?

Answer: tailback for the Cornhuskers

While Parker continued to eat her bag of pork rinds, Hardison simply responded with, "I don't even know what a Cornhusker is." Even though people mistook him for the team's tailback, Hardison was actually backstage posing as Todd Lawrence, the producer who Nate had abandoned earlier that day.
6. Nate played the role of Bill Wells, a fight promoter visiting Nebraska to poach new fighting talent. Eliot told Rucker that he was from an American state that had no athletic commission. What U.S. state were they supposedly from?

Answer: South Dakota

Their cover story worked perfectly well but, what they did not know was, Rucker's assistant had a cousin named Jimmy who also lived in South Dakota. The assistant contacted his cousin and asked for background information on "Bill Wells" and found that no one had ever heard of him. Even worse, Rucker's and his assistant had a friend at the team's hotel, and she told them that Nate had been visited by Jack Howorth.

This blew their cover and forced them to change the game plan both dramatically and quickly.
7. After their cover was blown Eliot knew that he would have to fight Tank in order for Rucker to leave both the team and their clients, the Howorths, alone. Rucker ordered Eliot to take a dive because he had placed an enormously large bet on Tank winning the fight. However, like he had done before Mark Howorth's fight, Rucker tampered with a part of the fight. What did Rucker do to tamper with the outcome?

Answer: drugged water bottles

Unfortunately Mark was not prepared for a drugged water bottle, but because Mark's father had told the team about what Rucker had done to him, they were able to find the drugged bottle Rucker had left for Eliot. They swapped the water bottles prior to the fight and only made it look like Eliot had been drugged.
8. Eliot pounded on Tank and had him in a submission choke hold, but Rucker still wouldn't stop the fight. By the time Eliot was pried off of Tank he was unconscious; the ring doctor, Jon, gave him an immediate shot before telling Rucker that he was dead. Was Tank actually dead?

Answer: No

After Rucker thought that Tank was dead he gathered up all of the money he could find and fled the gym. After he left, the ring doctor, Jon told the team that Tank was fine and would be waking up any minute; Jon had given him an injection of succinylcholine, which is a short term paralytic.

It turned out that Jon was in on the con, not only because he was an honest man, but also because he was also Jack Howorth's cousin.
9. After Rucker fled the gym, Hardison found out, via the GPS, that Rucker was headed towards Iowa and he made an anonymous tip to the state police that a criminal was headed their way. Besides looking guilty for having a huge bag of cash, Parker had planted something in Rucker's trunk to make him look even more guilty when he was pulled over. What did Parker put in his trunk?

Answer: guns and saxophone

Parker was shown going into a gun store and telling the owner, "I need guns. $6000 worth. And one of those..." She pointed offscreen to an item she additionally bought but it wasn't shown to the viewer until after Rucker had been pulled over and was having his car searched by the police.
10. At the end of the episode Nate explained to the Howorths that Rucker would most certainly be going to jail for something, just not for the items in his car when he fled the state. What was Rucker guilty of?

Answer: tax evasion

The team explained to the Howorths that Rucker had been pocketing all of the money from the uninsured fights in his gym without reporting any of it to the I.R.S. Rucker had made his assistant bet all of his assets and money on Tank's victory and then lost everything when he was lead to believe that Tank was truly dead. Fortunately, Hardison intercepted the bet online and came out as a huge winner with Eliot's victory.

The team gave the majority of the winnings and the entire gym facility to the Howorths, which I always thought was a nice touch.
