Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Why was Kim at the 4077th?

Answer: He was wounded

He was also lost, as we discover later in the episode. Happily, he wasn't seriously wounded.
2. When Margaret and Frank enter the post-stop to check on Kim, one of the 4077th members is reading Kim a rather suggestive book for the times. Was it Klinger?

Answer: No

It was Hawkeye. When Margaret and Frank objected to Hawkeye's reading "smut" to Kim, he responded by telling them that Kim didn't understand a word of English. When they said that he was disturbing the other patients, he asked the other patients if he was disturbing them.

The answer was a resounding "NO!". This is a very funny scene! You know, I have to admit that I'm still surprised that Frank liked Kim, considering that whenever he had contact with Koreans in other episodes he was very mean to them for the most part.
3. Henry tried to put Kim in an orphanage.

Answer: True

In one scene, we see Henry talking to Sister Teresa on the phone. Sister Teresa is a nun that runs an orphanage that's not too far from the 4077th. Both Henry and Sister Teresa agree that a hospital that's only three miles from the front is no place for a child!
4. Which one of the 4077th staff wants to adopt Kim?

Answer: Trapper

We see Trapper writing his wife in one scene, expressing his desire to adopt Kim. He tells her that he can't stand the thought of Kim being in an orphanage and that he thinks their daughters would love the idea. But he also tells her that the final decision is up to her. Trapper lets Hawkeye read the letter.

When Hawkeye finishes the letter, Trapper asks him if he's making a mistake by wanting to adopt Kim. Hawkeye responds by telling Trapper that it's not a mistake to give Kim his life back. Then Hawkeye raises a martini glass and tells Trapper, "You're all daddy."
5. There is a very sweet scene where Margaret is reading Kim a bedtime story in her tent. What story does she read to him?

Answer: "Goldilocks And The Three Bears"

Margaret has a Korean-American dictionary, which she used to translate some of the words in the story for Kim. Margaret sure loved kids, a side of her that was shown in a few episodes of "M*A*S*H". You know, I'd like to think that after the war was over and everyone went home, Margaret finally met Mr. Right and had some kids of her own. She deserved to be happy.
6. Father Mulcahy enters the prospective adopter's tent with a letter concerning Kim's adoption. Is it good news?

Answer: Yes

Indeed it is. The letter is from Trapper's wife, Louise. It starts with, "This letter is to inform you that you're about to become the proud father of a five year-old Korean boy!" After Trapper finishes reading the letter, he embraces Hawkeye and Father Mulcahy and gives them each a cigar. Trapper tells them that for the first time since he's been in Korea, he feels like he's actually got a purpose for being there.
7. Who takes Kim on a picnic and then doesn't keep watch over him?

Answer: Frank and Margaret

Frank and Margaret get too wrapped up in each other when they should be watching Kim. Hawkeye and Trapper come along and break up the romantic time. Then Trapper asks where Kim is. Frank says, "Well, he was here a minute ago." They look around, and Frank gets a look of horror on his face.

It's then that we discover that Kim has wandered into a minefield! Kim's prospective adopter runs in to save him...stay tuned!
8. Hawkeye runs back to camp, hoping to find the map to the minefield that Kim has wandered into. He enters Henry's office and starts looking through the files. Henry asks what's going on and Hawkeye fills Henry and Radar in on the rather grim situation. Henry helps Hawkeye look for the necessary maps but their search proves quite fruitless. The reason is because Radar has the maps in a rather silly location. Where are the needed maps?

Answer: Under b for boom

No wonder no one but Radar understood his filing system! In the first part of the episode "Welcome To Korea", he had his bugle in the filing cabinet under b (well, at least he had it under the right letter)! But his clipboard was under k! Oh, Radar!
9. The map that is brought to the minefield is useless because it's a Civil War map.

Answer: False

It's a World War II surplus map. Henry is reading the map because he took a course in map reading. He tells Kim's rescuer that the instructions he's reading him will put right in the heart of downtown Berlin! Upon hearing this, Hawkeye grabs the map, looks at it and exclaims, "This is a World War II surplus map!" Luckily, the chopper that was called for finally arrives and Kim and his rescuer are saved!
10. Does Kim get adopted?

Answer: No

No, he doesn't.This is a very bittersweet scene. Kim and his rescuer have just been set down on the ground by the chopper pilot and the camp runs over to greet them. Just then, Sister Teresa drives up in an old pick-up truck with Kim's mother. Sister Teresa explains that Kim's mother had come to her looking for her son. Sister Teresa took a chance that Kim was the mother's son. Kim, his mother and Sister Teresa all get in the pick-up truck and drive off. I'm happy that Kim and his mother were reunited, but I feel bad for Trapper. I love the next scene where Radar enters the Swamp and tells Trapper that he has files on other Korean orphans that are up for adoption and then Hawkeye and Trapper pretend that Trapper's interested in adopting Radar! It's really funny when Radar says, "Well, I guess we could try it for awhile." Well, that's it! I hope that you liked my quiz! Adios!
