Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Tony DiNozzo's father

Answer: Robert Wagner

Michael Weatherly played Special Agent Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo on "NCIS" from 2003 until 2016. On several episodes, his father, Anthony DiNozzo Sr., would make an appearance and help solve a case. Tony's somewhat shady, womanizing dad was played by Robert Wagner. Wagner was a big movie star in the 1950s and 1960s, and starred on the TV show "Hart to Hart" with Stefanie Powers.

He was married to Natalie Wood.
2. Temperence Brennan's father

Answer: Ryan O'Neal

Ryan O'Neal became a household name in 1964 with his portrayal of Rodney Harrington on the primetime soap opera "Peyton Place". He went on to star in films which include "Love Story" (1970), "What's Up, Doc?" (1972) and "Paper Moon" in 1973 (with his daughter Tatum). Ryan was also partnered with Farrah Fawcett until her death. On "Bones", O'Neal played forensic anthropologist Temperence Brennan's father, Max Keenan.
3. Lorelai Gilmore's father

Answer: Edward Hermann

"The Gilmore Girls" was a comedy/drama which centered around young single mother Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and her teenage daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) who lived in Stars Hollow, Connecticut. The show, with its wacky characters and coming-of-age stories, ran from 2000 to 2007. Edward Hermann (1943-2014), of TV's "Eleanor and Franklin", portrayed the wealthy, stern father of Lorelai and grandfather of Rory.
4. Claire Dunphy's mother

Answer: Shelley Long

Most of us still remember Shelley Long as the annoying Diane Chambers, with her on-again-off-again relationship with Sam Malone on "Cheers". Shelley left "Cheers" in 1987 to become a movie star, appearing in such forgettable films as "Hello Again" (1987) and "Troop Beverly Hills" (1989).

In 2016, Long reappeared on the sitcom "Modern Family" as DeDe Prichett, the ex-wife of Jay and mother of Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen) and Mitchell Pritchett (Jesse Tyler Ferguson).
5. Rachel Green's mother

Answer: Marlo Thomas

Before Mary Tyler Moore, there was "That Girl" from 1966 to 1971. The show starred Marlo Thomas as Ann Marie, a single girl trying to make it in New York City; the first TV role model for young girls to see that they didn't need a man to complete them. Daughter of famed entertainer Danny Thomas, Marlo has been acting since 1960, from "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis" to "Law and Order: SVU". On "Friends" she played Sandra Green, Rachel's mother, from 1996 to 2002.
6. Leonard Hofstadter's father

Answer: Judd Hirsch

I will always think of Judd Hirsch as Alex Reiger, the sane linchpin on the wonderful show "Taxi". Judd has also appeared on shows like "Dear John" (1988-1992), "Numbers" (2005-2010) and "Superior Donuts" (2017-2018). In 2007, Hirsch made his first appearance as Albert Hofstadter, Beverly's ex-husband and Leonard's father, in the season 9 finale, "The Convergence-Convergence" on the hit comedy "The Big Bang Theory".
7. Andre Johnson's father

Answer: Laurence Fishburne

The 2014 sitcom "Black-ish" is about Andre "Dre" Johnson, a white collar black man trying to retain his heritage and cultural identity while raising his family in a white, upper-class neighborhood in California. Dre lives with his wife Rainbow (a biracial doctor), his five kids (Zoey, Junior, Jack, Diane, Devante), his mother Ruby, and his father Earl ("Pops") next door. Laurence Fishburne ("Boyz in the Hood" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation") plays Pops.
8. Jamie Buchman's mother

Answer: Carol Burnett

One advantage of being older is that you are able to remember the wonderful "Carol Burnett Show" which ran from 1967 to 1978. With terrific skits like the "Gone with the Wind" parody, and great sidekicks and costumes, we will not see its like again. Fortunately, Carol has continued to remain a bright light on TV.

In 1997 she made her first appearance on the comedy show "Mad About You", about Paul and Jamie Buchman. Carol played Theresa Stemple, Jamie's mother.
9. Sydney Roberts' father

Answer: Robin Williams

The world got a little sadder with the passing of the great Robin Williams (1951-2014). Robin started out as a stand-up comedian who soared to fame as Mork from Ork. He continued to impress us in films like "Good Morning, Vietnam" (1987), "Dead Poets' Society" (1989) and "Mrs. Doubtfire" (1993).

In 2013, Robin made his way back to television when he was cast as advertising agency genius Simon Roberts on "The Crazy Ones". Sarah Michelle Gellar played his daughter, Sydney.
10. Deanna Troi's mother

Answer: Majel Barrett

Anyone remember Starfleet officer and nurse Christine Chapel from the USS Enterprise on the original "Star Trek"? Nurse Chapel was played by actress Majel Barrett (1932-2008) who married series creator Gene Roddenberry in 1969. Barrett had recurring roles in the franchise, including "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" (1979) and "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" (1986). On "Star Trek: The Next Generation", she played Lwaxana Troi, mother of the ship's counselor, Deanna.
