Answer: Conspiracy to commit murder

Ryan comes to Oz in 1997, serving a life sentence, and is up for parole in 12 years. His convictions in this instance are: two instances of vehicular manslaughter, five instances of reckless endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon, and parole violation. Ryan is later sentenced to an additional 40 years, after confessing to his part in the murder of Preston Nathan.

Answer: Bridge Street gang

Ryan ran this street gang which committed violent crimes, vandalism, and drug deals. His brother Cyril acted as Ryan's lieutenant until he suffered from brain damage. A number of characters are familiar with the Bridge Street gang, suggesting they had quite a prolific reputation.

Answer: Breast cancer

Ryan visits the hospital after noticing that one of his nipples is bleeding. After extensive tests, it is revealed that he is suffering from breast cancer. Ryan, like many people, has never heard of a man contracting breast cancer, so he initially reacts with anger, telling Dr Nathan that her prognosis is incorrect.

It is Dr Nathan's kindness and help during this time that prompts Ryan to fall in love with her.

Answer: To have Cyril to be moved to Emerald City

Cyril is first assigned to Unit B, which houses Schillinger and the Aryans. Unable to defend himself, Cyril is tricked by Schillinger then raped. Ryan asks for Cyril to be moved to Em City, but McManus refuses. Ryan convinces Cyril to punch him in the face, making sure that he is sent to the hole, away from Schillinger's clutches.

When Rivera is stabbed in the eyes, Ryan says he will only supply the desperately needed blood in return for his brother's transfer to Em City. McManus reluctantly agrees, knowing he has no real choice.

Answer: Kenny Wangler

Ryan tries to manipulate the outcome of the boxing matches for two reasons: to ensure his brother makes it through to the final, and to win large amounts of money by placing bets on the underdogs. When Hamid Khan comes up against the much smaller Kenny Wangler, Ryan goes to spike Wangler's drink, before realising there is no need to do so - Wangler does not stand a chance against Khan. When the final fight comes down to Khan and Cyril, Ryan tries to spike Khan's drink, only to be caught by Office Murphy.

Cyril is forced to fight against Khan at his full strength, though Ryan psychs Cyril up by making him remember the abuse they received at the hands of their father. This works and Cyril wins the fight, accidentally killing Khan in the process.

Answer: He knows she needs to hear it in order to make sense of the attack.

Gloria is raped by Patrick Keenan, who eventually ends up being sent to Oz. Keenan is another Irish criminal and he has heard of Ryan, but never met him. When Gloria begs Ryan to tell her that he ordered the attack, he tells her what she wants to hear, knowing that she can heal if she thinks there is some meaning behind her rape, rather than it being a random attack. Sister Peter Marie eventually manages to convince Gloria that the attack had nothing to do with Ryan. Later, Ryan pretends to make friends with Keenan, only to kill him with a dumbbell.

Answer: Supreme Allah

Ryan and Chris soon find themselves in the minority after new unit manager Martin Querns starts to replace all the white prisoners in the unit with black prisoners. Knowing that Querns is allowed to get away with a lot more than he should because he has a record of no violence, they kill Browne and Shemin in an attempt to discredit him. Keller also uses the murders as a way to get to Beecher, as both Browne and Shemin had previously slept with him.

They leave Supreme Allah's distinctive pendant at the scene of Browne's murder, and he is sent to solitary confinement, though he is eventually released due to lack of evidence.

Answer: Jack Eldridge

Jack Eldridge comes to the prison to present a segment on life inside Oz. Ryan and Cyril were interviewed by Jack 20 years previously, while they were in the Bridge Street gang. The resulting broadcast showed the O'Reily brothers in a very bad light, causing great despair to their mother. Still holding a grudge, Ryan tries to convince Omar White to kill Jack, though his plan backfires. Later, Cyril beats Jack half to death while locked in a cell with him.

Answer: Cut off his arm

Ryan asks for Shupe not to be killed, but to be permanently disfigured, so his arm is cut off. Unpleasant as it sounds, the cutting off of a prisoner's genitals did happen earlier on in the show; back in season 1, the Italians did just this to Johnny Post. After hearing Shupe's lie, Cyril attacks and kills Li Chen, eventually leading to his transfer to death row.

Answer: The gym

Cyril is executed for the murder of Li Chen, despite the fact that he is mentally incapable of understanding the sentence. At the beginning of season 6, McManus had painted a large circular maze on the floor of the gym, after hearing at a seminar that it could help trigger problem-solving abilities and help the prisoners come to conclusions other than violence.

It is used by a number of prisoners throughout the series, and this is where Ryan heads when Cyril is being killed. He is met there by Gloria Nathan, who finally kisses him after nearly 5 years of him being in love with her.
