Henry was approached by Brian Kirk, who used to work at the factory and wants to get it up and running again. Henry and Margaret are excited and Margaret goes to dinner with Brian to discuss the investment. He then takes her back to his house where she sees an old photo on the wall of Brian's grandfather.

It turns out his grandfather was one of the men who had died in the factory fire and secretly returned. Margaret realizes that investing in the factory is a ruse and the Kirks are really trying to get revenge on the Langstons.

She had originally intended on making herself disappear like Barbara had, but, she later confessed, couldn't go through with it looking into Jacob's eyes. She told Henry and Fred that she did everything to protect her family, but they were upset and told her to go to the government facility for Returned who had no families to claim them.

After Henry left (with Jacob), Fred offered her the use of an old cabin, but she declined.

When Margaret first goes into the common room at the facility, the room falls silent as people whisper "That's Margaret Langston." She sees one woman wearing another woman's glasses and goes up to the bully, telling her she has something that doesn't belong to her.

The woman gives back the glasses, earning Margaret the thanks of the owner of the glasses. Later, Preacher James (himself a Returned) learns that Margaret knows how to make the Returned disappear. He gets into the facility under the guise of helping Marty and tells Margaret in exchange for getting the Returned out of the facility, she would tell him how to make the Returned disappear. During communion, Preacher James poisons all of the Returned at the facility and they come back in the forest.

When Margaret finds out why Preacher James wanted to know her secret, she refuses to help him and walks away.
