Adam insists there's going to be cake because Jennifer signed up for a cake plate. Jeff assures Adam that there's no cake, but Adam can't believe it. Adam pushes the issue by bringing home ingredients for Jennifer to make a cake, while he watches football. Jennifer says she only registered for a cake plate because that's what you do when you're engaged, she doesn't bake. Adam doesn't respond fast enough when Jennifer asks if he still wants to get married, and both begin to think they may have rushed into the engagement. Later, at the art opening, Adam and Jennifer are touched by a conversation an elderly couple has, and they realize how much they love each other.

Audrey comes home to find that Jeff is planning on selling her bike, saying it's in the way. She tells him she doesn't want him to sell it, but he doesn't understand why, and Audrey won't tell him. Audrey doesn't want him to sell her bike because riding in the park was something they did together and she wants Jeff to figure it out on his own.

When Audrey later sees Jeff looking at a bike website, she again tells him she's not selling her bike. He tells her he's looking to buy one for himself, as he figured out why Audrey didn't want him to sell hers.

Adam and Russell try to find out from Jeff what his birthday deal is, but Jeff won't talk or else the birthday deal will be off. Adam suggests that he and Jennifer agree to birthday deals for both of them, and is surprised when Jennifer readily agrees since he and Russell think it's sexually related.

After Jeff's birthday party, Jennifer and Adam discuss what they want. Jennifer's list includes breakfast in bed, a massage, a nap, and Adam watching "The Notebook" with her.

Jeff doesn't seem to enjoy the birthday parties too much. As he explains to Adam, he has to pay for it, make sure no one spills drinks or tries to steal any of his things. But he knows Audrey likes throwing the parties and wants to keep her happy so he'll get his birthday deal.

When Jennifer asks Audrey what kind of party she throws, Audrey says it's the usual JeffFest. "Beer, shots, chips, hotwings, stadium rock on the stereo. Basically the home version of Hooters." Jennifer suggests that Audrey throw the kind of party she wants since Jeff doesn't care one way or the other, so Audrey gives the party with a Cuban theme.

Russell tells Adam he's been looking around for clues to what Jeff and Audrey's birthday deal is and he pulls the item out of his pocket to show Adam. He speculates what it's used for, but Adam wants to discuss how he's afraid that Jennifer might come up with something really disgusting for her birthday deal. Finally, as Russell is scratching his chin with the item, Adam tells him it's a litter box scoop.

Both Adam and Jennifer think their bed is too small, so Adam brings in his queen-size bed from storage. Jennifer is enjoying it until she finds out that Adam bought it with a girlfriend named Sonya. This causes them both to begin putting things which they had shared with previous boyfriends or girlfriends in a box. Finally, they agree to begin a new box with things they've shared together.

Russell tells Jeff and Audrey what Dani does when they first meet at the diner. Jeff flirts with her by saying to keep up the good work because lifeguards are the doctors of our beaches. Later on, Russell and Dani are at the bar watching Jeff talking to a woman. Russell comments that it's been 10 minutes and she hasn't even maced him.

He says the veteran may still have it, and that it reminds him of Reggie Jackson's three homeruns in the 1977 World Series. He says he was there, but Dani points out that he wasn't even born then.

He covers, but she doubts his actual age again later when she sees how he dances.

Audrey doesn't think Jeff can attract young women, and allows him a night out, without his wedding ring, to prove it. Obviously out of practice, when a woman at the bar compliments him on his shirt, Jeff says thanks, his wife bought it for him. Audrey, a little worried that Jeff might succeed, shows up at the bar.

She and Jeff act as if they're just meeting and Audrey tells him that her husband made her feel taken for granted because he carried on about a 24-year-old right in front of her. Jeff says that his wife thought that she was the only one who could ever find him attractive which made him feel taken for granted.

They both agree the two of them were wrong, and Jeff asks if she wants to go to his place. Audrey asks if he got any numbers and Jeff replies, "Just yours", even though a woman had given him her number just before Audrey came in. Jeff leaves the piece of paper with the woman's number on the table, and Russell comes over to pick it up.

Jennifer comes home to find Adam and Russell playing Adam's new $500 video game system and acting very juvenile. She suggests they spend money on things that can benefit both of them. Later at the diner, Russell points out how much Jennifer probably spends on herself without talking to Adam.

After Adam points out to Jennifer how much she spends on getting her hair done, she agrees to color it herself, which turns into a disaster (Adam sees brown dye all over the bathroom and says it looks like she executed a family of chocolate bunnies in there).

They agree to save money in other areas, such as walking rather than using cabs.

Audrey comes home and excitedly tells Jeff that she got the promotion she had been waiting for. Unfortunately, Jeff has a less-than-enthusiastic reaction because he has just seen his beloved Knicks lose a close game. Audrey is upset that Jeff is more absorbed in his team's loss than her promotion, so he asks her to go to a game with him.

When Jeff joins Russell and Adam at the diner (where they were just discussing Jennifer's spending), Russell greets Jeff with "Hey Dunston, checking in?". Jeff tells Russell he can't go to the Knicks game with Jeff, and "thanks for making that easy".

Then Jeff says to Russell, "Now aren't you due back in Paris Hilton's handbag?". Russell's upset that Jeff and Adam's women are taking his Knicks ticket and cramping his video game time, he says one of them has to dump their chick.

After having a hard time deciding what to wear, Jeff puts Audrey in a Knicks shirt, and they end up having fun at the game.
