Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This show follows the adventures of the Federation Starship Enterprise, Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, Chief Medical Officer Leonard `Bones' McCoy and the rest of the crew.

Answer: 'Star Trek'

Gene Roddenberry originally pitched his idea to CBS who said that they would get back to him. While he waited they sneakily went ahead with the creation of 'Lost in Space'.
2. A NASA pilot from 1987 becomes frozen and is revived five centuries later and helps to defend Earth against the evil forces of the Draconian Empire.

Answer: 'Buck Rogers in the 25th Century'

Mel Blanc, who is famous for the voice of Bugs Bunny and various other 'Looney Tunes' characters did the voice for the robot Twiki.
3. The Robinson family, aboard the Jupiter 2, are sent off course and into the farthest reaches of space due to the sabotage of Dr. Smith. Unfortunately for him he is stuck there with them.

Answer: 'Lost in Space'

The original pilot did not have Dr. Smith but the CBS execs wanted an antagonist.
4. This show involves an alien time traveler from Gallifrey who, with the aid of a companion, travels through time and space in a ship camouflaged to look like an old London police box.

Answer: 'Doctor Who'

This show ran from Nov. 23, 1963 and went off the air in December of 1989 making it the longest running Sci-Fi series in history. It was recreated with a new Doctor in 2005 and has become popular on both sides of the Atlantic.
5. The Sterling family go on vacation to Egypt and are led astray within the Great Pyramid. They suddenly find themselves transported to another dimension and search for a way back home.

Answer: 'Otherworld'

I really liked this series from 1985. It was a great departure from the happy family stuff you typically saw in those days. Sadly, the show was cancelled after only eight episodes.
6. Architect David Vincent stops off in a ghost town for some rest and discovers aliens landing. He must now attempt to convince others that the aliens are trying to take over.

Answer: 'The Invaders'

David Vincent was voted by TV Guide to be #6 in its list of `Top 25 Sci-Fi Legends' in August of 2004.
7. A secret agent decides to quit and finds himself in an unusual village where he is simply known as #6 and is desperately trying to escape.

Answer: 'The Prisoner'

This show is so fantastically weird I had to add it here. Patrick McGoohan is a terrific actor. The Experiment is something I made up and 'Otherworld' was the 1980's show I had before. 'Dangerman, or AKA Secret Agent Man', was another wonderful show with McGoohan.
8. A space flight moves through a strange cloud in earth's orbit and find themselves on an alternate earth where everything is 12 times its normal size.

Answer: 'Land of the Giants'

Who hasn't imagined being only a couple of inches tall? But this show creates an extraordinary amount of terror that will make you change your mind. Really creepy stuff.
9. A convoy of refugee humans escape the destruction of their home world Caprica by the Cylons and venture out into space in search of the lost planet Earth.

Answer: 'Battlestar Galactica'

Personally, I am not much of a fan of the new series but I love the original. I think the Cylons looked cooler too and Baltar played by John Colicos can't be beat.
10. In a futuristic society no one may live past the age of 30 or they will be exterminated by a police force known as Sandmen. One of these Sandmen decides to flee the city and seek out a place called Sanctuary.

Answer: 'Logan's Run'

A lot of people don't know that a TV series was made from this great movie; as was 'Planet of the Apes' as well. 'Star Trek: Phase II' was the proposed new 'Star Trek' series that later became 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture'.
